Brittney's mother and father were not allowed to accompany her to the room with Justin. They were actually done with their visit and were forced to say goodbye to her after Brittney had been slapped.

Brittney's mother never once told her why she slapped her, but I think that it was clear to us all. I could tell that Brittney knew she had fucked up. And instead of being repentant, she was getting angrier by the second. When her mother tried to hug her goodbye, she pushed her away. She even refused her father who had done nothing to incur her wrath. Brittney was just pissed and didn't care who she hurt. This right here was just further proof that she didn't care about anyone at all.
