Her warm breath on my cheek drew me away from the fear that had wrapped its way around my heart, and I focused on her. Her diamond eyes never failed to take my breath away. The love that lived there made me feel as though she held all my wishes, all my best dreams. If I died, she’d keep them safe for me.

Oh, god. If I died it’d kill her.

I tore my eyes away from Miri’s and stabbed li’Morl with my gaze. “You need to help us.”

After what happened that first time Miri had dreamed - if Akaros got to me and managed to kill me for good this time…well. I couldn’t let that happen. Not for me, but for her.
