Other Penelope was so angry that she didn't begin the letter with a greeting or end it with a salutation. Her frustration poured out through her words but there were also other signs on the paper, like places where the pen pressed into the paper too hard.
She was seriously defensive on Roman's behalf. Some of that anger had to stem from her own experiences as well but Penelope was surprised she felt so strongly for the feelings of someone she had barely met.
More than surprise, Penelope felt intense guilt. Everything in the letter addressed what she had thought about while she was in the other world. It hit her right where it hurt.
She hadn't been attentive enough to Roman. She had put work first. She had been selfish.
Did they end up getting pets while Penelope was gone because of what he said about potentially wanting to work with animals? She had no idea he wanted pets; he had never said anything about it.
