Capítulo 441: Crystal [#9]

It was supposed to be a simple vacation.

Don and his friends were supposed to have fun camping out- But they never imagined they'd end up in Camp Crystal Lake. It was, after all, a random coincidence! They all thought they were going camping on a fun vacation so he brought along his girlfriend Jessica while his brother Chris brought his girlfriend Amanda, who didn't quite want to come but still came. Their friends Kevin and Derrick also came along, Don always thought they had a thing the two of them and when they started sharing a tent he didn't question the soft noises in the middle of the night.

But he should've questioned them.

He should've questioned everything he went through, because the moment he saw that hockey mask, he knew they had been caught by the Friday the 13th Curse. Everybody always speculated about it, with not many people having knowledge about how the curse itself happens but how it always ends- some people survive, and those who survive end up learning valuable skills that would allow them to survive any other Slasher. Those who survive would, sometimes, become Jason's target depending on the sheer amount of damage they caused to him or his property- he literally went through the whole of Manhattan once because of the curse after it was triggered outside of Camp Crystal Lake by sheer bad luck.

He didn't go on a completely mad slaughtering rampage, but he did chase the targets of the curse to the ends of the earth through Manhattan.

And now, Don and his friends are the curse's targets.

There were 6 of them-

Don "Arnold" Pravetel

Chris "Topher" Pravetel

Jessica "Angel" Hewitt

Amanda "Vivere" Vamos

Kevin "Hel" Damos

Derrick "Brute" Kramer

The moment they entered Camp Crystal Lake, the curse had been triggered. The six of them had been prepared for camping, with his brother Chris bringing their late father's machete for cutting through vegetation and anything dangerous on their way to also impress his girlfriend, who wasn't that keen on being there. She looked a bit apprehensive but they dismissed her- if only they knew this was the Curse acting up to warn them before the killings, they would have tried to leave to not avail! They settled upon a small clearly a few ways away from the nearest town after Kevin went there to check the local library because he was a fucking nerd- okay, who goes looking for a library when they go out camping? He did find out that the library had been closed for a while now after people stole from it.

...who steals from a library?

Don and his girlfriend Jessica shared the tent closest to campfire because she was cold all the time and he wanted to be a good boyfriend and help her by keeping her warm in any way he could. And that was when they felt unnaturally horny- He should've known, he should have fucking known that this was going to end up badly when he knew, he fucking knew what happens to people who fuck inside tents or inside camps. But why did it still come as a surprise to him when a spear-shaped branch of a tree pierced right through Jessica's chest?

He should've know- so why didn't he?

So, they ran- he, his brother and his girlfriend. They found Kevin and Derrick soon after, they were tied up together in each other's entrails in a weird embrace while being hung from trees. They were the first ones to die, so how didn't they hear them scream? Or how did they not hear their bodies being hung from trees barely 60 feet away from them? The only thing that came to mind was the curse that was somehow doing this, dampening their senses and making them not able to hear things-

CHI-CHI-CHI

AH-AH-AH

-and hear that accursed sound! "Run!" He turned around, pulling his brother and his girlfriend alongside him deeper through the forest. It was a nightmare, everything was hurting and he knew Jason was calmly walking right behind them, the bloody machete that used to be his father's machete hanginf loosely from his hand as he waved it around, testing the weapon. Chris had hurt his ankle running and he said "Leave me, save yourselves, go!" but Don ignored his brother and dragged him along, not bothering to hear his weird martyr request to be left to die in hopes of saving his girlfriend and brother.

"Shut up already-" Pulling his brother for a moment, Don lowered his body to pick him up, luckily dodging a thrown hatchet that sank right into the tree beside him, splinters flying everywhere. He closed his eyes and turned his back, feeling the pain of having splinters enter his skin before the adrenaline kicked in and he dragged his brother into a piggyback ride as his girlfriend had already ran away without them. "-I'm not leaving you behind." Against his brother's wishes, Don dragged him away, running through a dark moonless forest with a killer right behind them- Until, in the distance, he saw light. They were running towards a... cabin? Here? In the middle of these cursed woods? "What the fuck..." He was about to run towards, but he knew it was a bad idea. Instead, he turned and went left, narrowly avoiding another attack from Jason who suddenly stopped.

The masked freak turned to the cabin when a sudden scream of pain echoed out from within it.

"AAAARGGH!" It was a painful, painful scream- one you'd get after a serious injury: "MY FUCKING FACE! YOU BITCH-"

Don's whole body went cold when Jason slowly walked towards the cabin. The main door to it was kicked open and out came running Amanda, her eyes panicked in a maniacal sort of way, despair and fear written on her face so beautifully that it was like an art piece. Don didn't know what was happening to him, but he did feel like her fear was beautiful- and that was when he snapped out of it and focused on dragging his brother away from that place towards the direction they came from, since Jason was clearly going for whoever was in that cabin that just screamed.

It wasn't his or his brother's problem anymore.

Luckily for them, they'd survive the night with minimal injuries- why? Well, let me show you.

——

The shining bright silver tea kettle whistled loudly above the stove- gas was not used, instead there was a mystical flame burning beneath a sheet of metal held aloft like a grill. At the same time hot water was being boiled for a nice green tea, a slab of magically purified stag meat was being cooked on the same super clean thick metal sheet. Kaleb had made this metal sheet with Jason to act as a grill and temporary stove while they worked on how to get a real stove without gas... maybe an electrical stove? They still have yet to make a decision about that because Jason didn't really think that an electrical stove would last long considering the fact that he was a disaster on the kitchen.

Rude, but also true.

But hey, Kaleb was learning! He has managed to learn how to boil water without setting it on fire, he has learned how to cook meat without turning it black, and he has learned a lot of tricks on how to not destroy his newly created kinda-kitchen. It was still a work in progress, but they had a pantry, a broken fridge that Kaleb had to learn [Frostbite] and [Ray of Frost] to keep cool while Jason tried to fix it, a bunch of knives he didn't really know the use of, and a various pots and pans!

After Ghostface, The Trapper, and The Wraith- as he learned they were called -left, he started to cook himself something nice. Then he remembered today was Friday the 13th and Jason was out there killing people, so he'd come back home hungry! Even though Jay doesn't need to eat, he still likes to eat- and hey, what sort of wife would he be if he didn't cook for his husband? "How heteronormative." Snickering to himself, Kaleb used [Mage Hand] to flip various slabs of perfectly seasoned and properly cooked meat into a large plate. Jason butchered an entire fucking stag (although Kaleb still thinks it was a moose) and gave him the meat, the bones, and the antles before he used the internal organs as fertilizer under Kaleb's request- besides the heart, which Kaleb was learning how to use magic rituals and the heart of an animal could come in handy.

He was peacefully sipping on his tea, using [Prestidigitation] regularly to keep the food warm for when Jason comes back so he could have a nice warm meal before bed- when the door to their home was literally kicked open.

'...Not Jason.' His eyes narrowed immediately- although he had "fought" against Ghostface, he knew very well that it wasn't truly a fight and that he would've lost if it was life or death! He also knew this wasn't Jason because he would never kick the door to his own home open- so it must be someone else. He calmly prepared himself to fight someone, when a scared woman came barreling in- she had cuts all over her body from running through sharp sticks and bushes, her hair had spiderwebs, and hwr clothes were covered in mud. She looked like a wreck, fear in her eyes was all he could see for a moment before hope and despair appeared in her face.

"Please-" She quite literally threw herself forward, making Kaleb take a step back and away from her: "-no, no- Please, please! Call the police, cal anyone- for the love of God, he's coming!" Oh, so she's the unlucky girl huh? Kaleb watched for a few moments in silence as she moved towards the living room- the layout of the house was simple. You entered the house into the living room, turned a left and you entered the kitchen, a right and you would find yourself in the rest of the living room where the couches were. From there you could go to the master bedroom or the bathroom, and there were also stairs to the first floor above, where Kaleb was planning to use for some other things. "A phone, please- do you have a phone!?"

"Calm down, lady- I will help." Of course, he never said he'd help her. "I think- No, the phone has been cut out for two days now, I still haven't gone over to pay the phone bill because, well, issues I've been having. My husband and I- Why am I talking about that?" Grumbling like an old person, Kaleb moved around the lady, his hands clenching the sudden black book with a white spider on the cover that manifested on his hand. "Let's see..."

"W-what is that!?" The girl's eyes widened in fear as she saw the book simply appear on the ginger guy's hands- He ignored her, flipping page after page, until he stopped in one. "Stay away from me!" In her panic, she saw him as a freak- after all, he lives here in the woods where Jason is known to be, and he just made a book appear on his hands! She reacted quickly, grabbing the nearest thing and throwing it at him.

It just happened to be a tea kettle full of piping hot water.

*splash*

"AAAARGGH!" Kaleb screamed, his hand going towards his face immediately- When she threw the kettle, the water spilled out into his body, mostly his face, burning him badly: "MY FUCKING FACE! YOU BITCH-" With a sizzling hiss, his skin was burned beyond normal medical repair- but thankfully he has magic at his side. With a touch and a cast of [Cure Wounds], Kaleb's face was repaired enough he could see again, although his face still hurt and it would probably leave one or two scars across his face.

She had already turned around, running towards the door to leave.

Pity, he wanted to be nice to her until Jason came to take her away... It seems he'll have to do it himself.
