Chapter 8
The Result
Kiekie's POV.
I remembered seeing Cleo closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath.
Mark: We are honor to announce these three amazing people who were able to survive the battle of Carina.
Joe: Yeah! The battle of Carina was one of the bloodlust wars in African history.
Laura: We are honor to have three winners. They are:
Alex Greenfield - 3rd place.
Calvin Kelvin - 2nd place.
When I heard the first two names I gave up all hopes. I looked at Cleo, I saw that she was worried about me! I lower my eyes because I was sorry for disappointing her. She has always stood by me.
And I couldn't prove myself to her; for who she believed I was, for once!
I am not worth living. Maybe, I should just buy something tomorrow and get ride of my useless life. Evil thoughts started to evade my head. I was allowing my subconscious mind be controlled by what I was told while growing up.
I forgot the encouragement Cleopatra gave me before the competition. I forgot the power I felt after mediation. Everything flew out the window. As they say "always keep room for disappointment."
I didn't keep room for disappointment that day. I was very optimistic about my success.
Laura: I will leave the first winner to Mark to announce it.( She said ginning)
I could sew Laura smiling at me. But, I was overwhelmed with sadness and couldn't smile back to her.
Mark cleared his throat!
Mark: Our first winner is Kiekie Inna Johnson. Congratulations Kiekie. He said it with a genuine smile. You and Laura have taught me "never underestimate anyone ability."
Did I hear him right??? I am.... I am dreaming. I stood frozen on stage. Cleo ran up to me and gave me tight hug. We were both crying.
"Congratulations pumpkin." She said kissing my cheeks that had turned red from excited.
" Congratulations baby! I knew you would have made it." She said smiling at me.
I was speechless! I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to thank her!!!
Keke: Cleo, I will always be grateful to you! You are my hero!!!
Narrator: Please do not cry! Do you want to make me cry???? If you dare cry, I will start crying as well and I we won't be able to complete this.
Keke: I am sorry Rosie. But, I got so emotional! I promise I won't cry.
Narrator: That's my baby.( I say kissing her on her cheeks).
The judges gave our medals, certificates and award. I was awarded $750,000.00 LD.
Cleo was so happy for me. The money that I received was all thanks to Cleo.
We decided to use some to pay for her buy things in her house and the rest for food and transportation.
Keke We really did lived a hard life.
Narrator: Or course we did. It taught us to "Never Give Up."
Keke: Yeah!
