Night has arrived, the lights in the Grand Duke mansion. One room in that mansion. There is a young human. He was preparing himself to sleep. But he continued to feel something weird.
He threw away the bad thought and tried to sleep behind his blanket. A few minutes later when he was trying to sleep. Someone is on the way. A bad prejudice back in him.
Knock...Knock...Knock...
Someone knocked. His heart was beating fast. "Who is it?" Varest asked but no one answered. He ventured toward the door and open it.
His little feet sneaking slowly to the door. The person did not stop knocking. First, to make sure, he looked into the keyhole. He can't see clearly because the hole is too small.
Knock...Knock...Knock...
Is making Varest hesitate to open the door. He wondered if it was a servant, and they will call his name so also with Vanessa.
"Varest..it's me.."
Miss Vanessa?
On the other side of the door shows Vanessa stopping knocking on his door. She asked Varest to open the door. Varest does not directly open the door because Vanessa speaks with her small and soft voice.
"I'm sorry, Varest. I failed to protect you."
What does she mean?
Vanessa leaned against the door and sat down there. "Louise has told me everything. About what happened today."
So...Prince Louise has told everything to Miss Vanessa?
"Do I have to return you to the human kingdom?"
Her small voice sounded clearly in his ears. Varest don't know what to say and sat in front of the door to listen until the end.
"You know...The reason why I keep you here is very funny and makes no sense. Oddly enough I feel comfortable even though it's a little ironic. Your appearance is very similar. You made me miss someone. Someone who died twenty years ago."
Varest doesn't understand the intent of her words. He thought that Vanessa was talking about someone. He's just doesn't know who it is.
"Even though I'm forcing them to obey my commands. Still, you were always get bullied by the people in this mansion. My heart is torn apart when hearing it. How dare they disturb my prey?"
The first time I heard Miss Vanessa speak frankly. In my eyes, she is a mysterious person and has the gaze of loneliness. My guess is right, she just needs someone to be on her side until the end. Her red eyes have received any kind of pain.
"I know that what I did was wrong. At least I'm not stupid and do this carefully. It's good you lying to Louise about identity as a half-vampire. You have a lot to learn." Vanessa praised him and his face flushed.
"Young Man, maybe five years from now you will go from here and you know what I mean?"
Yeah...I know about it. I'm just a human. I will disappear in your eyes forever. My life is short.
"I don't know what are you doing inside. Start from now tell me if someone is disturbing you. Don't hide the pain alone. Let me know as soon as possible, okay?"
Vanessa rose from her position and touched the door. While Varest was pondering the words behind his door.
"Good night, Varest." She said and left.
"Good night, Miss Vanessa." He murmured replied her night greeting.
A special relationship slowly began to show itself in their life. Will a forbidden relationship occur between the two of them?
He opened the balcony door of his room. The night wind came into his room. The night that shows the full moon. He raised his little hands into the air. Varest has decided
"I will protect her." He said with full of confidence.
My reason to achieve victory. Just wait for our cruel world. I will soon come to change everything.

The next morning, as usual, the servant woke him up and they were preparing him as the young master in the Grand Duke mansion.
"Today, Miss Vanessa ask you to stay in this room."
"I know."
Louise was still at the mansion make Varest can not move freely. Vanessa does not want the two of them to meet for the second time. It could be dangerous if he knew Varest is a human.
The servant told him. Today Louise will go from the Grand Duke mansion. He will spend his daily routine in his room
"Is there anything else you need, Young Master?"
"No, thank you. You guys can go back to work."
"It's my honor to served you, Young Master. I excuse myself." The servants give a bow.
After the servant leave. Varest sits back down on the long sofa. He was ready to read a book and a few hours later, he feel sleepy "No, no. I have to study."
Varest read the book without stopping and understand it one by one. He remembers the important points in the sentence from the book. He keep learning until no more piles of books were left. Everything has been read by him.
"I'm bored."
If I can practice the sword in the training ground. I can improve my skills better than ever. Has Prince Louise left the mansion? I continue like this. I will die in a state of boredom.
"Haa..." He heaved a long sigh.
What should I do in a time like this?
"You look bored, Young Master."
"What?" Simultaneously wake up from his seat.
Someone talking to him but no one in this room. He was wary and looked around.
"Don't worry...It's me, the person you met yesterday."
The voice that sounded from behind made him turn around. When he turned around. The person suddenly is in front of his eyes while waving their hands.
"Prince...Louise?"
"Yes, it's me."
How did he? I did not feel his existence. He appeared in a matter of seconds without notice. Is this the one of goblin ability?
"Nice to meet you, half-vampire. How are you? Are you okay?"
Prince Louise from the kingdom of Goblins. A person that I should respect or should I suspect?
