The aftermath of the Harbinger's attack lingered in the air, an oppressive heaviness that pressed down on the survivors. Iliana's breathing was shallow as she leaned against Caelyn, her skin unnaturally hot beneath his hand. The wolf pups circled her protectively, their once pristine white fur streaked with black stains from the harbinger's residue.

Markos and Sintija burst back into the room, their arms laden with bundles of snow wrapped in cloaks. Without hesitation, Markos knelt beside Iliana helped Caelyn press handfuls of loose snow against her body. Steam hissed as the snow melted almost instantly upon contact with her overheated skin.

Markos's brows furrowed. He added new handfuls of snow, watching it melt and water trickle down the curves of Iliana's soft body. "We're going to need to get more snow," he frowned.
