Ruby was thrown off by the way Seth had left that she froze in the place where she stood after the step she had taken to get to him. 

"Do not feel anyhow, my princess," Veni said to her as he walked into the tent. He had been behind the prince when Seth had left. Veni had witnessed all that had happened but he didn't feel bad because he understood that they would have all been dead if it weren't for the prince -- no matter how evil he may seem.

The army of the Ziviel kingdom was ready to wipe them out, under Thress' orders of course. That had been Thress' direct orders -- so he had learned as Veni had his ways of getting certain information. That was why Ruby had sent him on that particular errand. He had also learned that the usurper wanted only the prince and the princess alive -- all other people with them should be killed.

Sir Taff watched Veni closely. He didn't look like he was from around this place. "Which kingdom are you from, boy?"
