Ellie
Looking at the monitor in her hand, Ellie could hardly believe her eyes. How could it be possible that her daughter’s bed was empty? Panic was rising up within her as she stared at the monitor. “This has to be a mistake,” she said to herself. “This has to be an awful mistake!”
Running up the stairs as fast as she could take them, Ellie flung open the nursery door. The window was wide open, the curtains blowing in the wind as the scent of smoke from the fire down the street stung her lungs. The bed was definitely empty.
“Michaela!” Ellie shouted, as if her baby daughter might be able to answer her. Of course, no response was heard. She realized then exactly what this was. The fire at the event center was just a distraction! Those rogues who had been hanging around her village for all of these weeks had been doing so for one reason, and only one reason.
To kidnap her baby!
