Capítulo 134: Chapter 134: Not in Labor

Contractions were capable of being ignored if one concentrated enough. At least, that’s what Ellie told herself early one fall morning when she woke up with the realization that the painful cramping she was feeling from time to time in her stomach were getting more regular and stronger. They were working in the office in River’s village, and the midwife, Nancy, had been alerted that she should be at the ready, so there was no reason for Ellie to panic. Her water hadn’t broken yet, after all. So if she sat in her chair behind her desk and continued working, she wouldn't have to tell anyone that she was in labor. The longer she could ignore it, the longer she could go without having to push this kid out.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to have the baby. She absolutely couldn’t wait to see her child, to hold the baby in her arms, to cuddle and do all of the things she’d been dreaming of with her child and her husband since she’d found out she was pregnant.
