Capítulo 4: Part 3
Later that night, as Anna laid awake in bed, her door creaked slowly open. Immediately her body tensed and fear raced through her body. She didn't need to hear him to know it was her brother who had just entered her room. Glory, who was laying on the computer desk across the room started growling. "Shut up you stupid beast" Her brother said quietly. In the darkness it was hard for Anna to tell exactly were Andrew was but she knew he was close to her bed. "Andrew, please don't. She doesn't know better. Shes just a cat." "Shut up" he growled over her quiet pleading. She fell silent. Glory did not. Anna felt rather than heard her brother rush past the end of her bed and then Glory was screeching in pain. Not thinking Anna launched herself out of bed faster than she thought was possible and dug her nails into Andrews biceps. "Leave her alone!" Anna almost screamed. Andrew slapped her hard across the face, and she let go, falling to the floor in shock from the pain that radiated from her left cheek into her jaw.
Both of her parents came rushing into her room as Glory screamed again, the cat clutched at arms lengths in Andrews hand, one back leg dangling at an odd angle. The light which her father had flipped on was glaringly bright in Anna's eyes, her face covered in tears and the left side already swelling. "Whats going on in here?" Alexia demanded. Andrew dropped the cat back onto the desk where she immediately shrank back, hissing. "I just came to ask Anna a question and that stupid cat attacked me" Anna whimpered on the floor, not daring to say a word. "And why is Anna on the floor?"
"Because I accidentally ran into her when I was trying to back away from the cat."
Her father helped Anna up onto the bed then examined her face. "I think her jaw is broke Alexia. We need to get her to the hospital." Anna shook her head, pointing to Glory. She tried to speak and wound up instead letting out a moan of pain.
Alexia glared at Andrew. "You go to your room and don't you DARE come out again. We will deal with you in the morning." She turned to Anna and Glory "The cat needs attention too John. We will drop the cat off at the emergency vet on the way to the hospital. Anna get in the car." John sighed and got the travel crate that was kept for Glory to be transported to the vet out of Anna's closet as Anna got her shoes on, tears still falling silently down her face. The cat drug itself into the crate willingly, making John silently thankful and proud that his daughter had taught the cat that a kennel was a safe place.
