Martha smiled innocently. That was payback for being woken early. She didn't even get to eat. 

Although, they didn't require human food to get by. She enjoyed eating a lot. It was one thing she had in common with her husband. 

Clarissa had noticed how Kieran cut off her speech sometimes. There was something she knew that Kieran didn't want her to find out. This little trip to town was the perfect opportunity to find out what exactly. 

" Why are you late?" Clarissa asked as she handed the flowers to one of the maids to hold. 

" I apologize, your highness. " Martha started. " I woke late. "

"Did your late night plans take too long? " Clarissa asked sarcastically.

Martha laughed. " Your jokes never fail to amaze me. Shall we leave now your highness?"

Clarissa turned around to walk to the carriage. A footman stood waiting to assist her into the carriage. 

The weather changed all of a sudden, becoming dark.
