Ravens flew steadily from the human's palace that evening, going quickly in all directions. Renn, the Bird Master, had not seen his aviary so empty for decades. General Tarik sent out riders as well. Rowan and Elduine watched the riders from a window, as the horses left the palace gates and separated to gallop off into various directions.
“Now we wait,” she said.
“Not too long,” Elduine adjusted the arrow necklace around Rowan’s neck. “The cities will respond quickly. The Crimson Dagger has been terrorizing everyone.”
Just then, General Tarik came up to discuss preparations for negotiations.

Elduine was right. In two days several human cities had sent representatives. Elduine was pleasantly surprised to see a few Elves come from the forests to attend.
Mid-morning found the assembly in a hall overlooking the river. The arched windows allowed a beautiful view of the land, and Rowan hoped that would encourage the others to join her.
