William made his way through the crowd of people who were merrily enjoying the celebration. There was a large bonfire in the center of the square. No one seems to notice the unusual cloud forming overhead Castle Fenway. William did. He paid it very little attention, thinking it was the weather.
He continued his stealth journey through the keep. He was annoyed at how much celebrating was going on. As soon as he reached the corridor of Beatrice's quarter, a loud crack of lightning startled him. He felt the ground shake, and he held onto the wall of the corridor to steady himself. William did not feel fear of these unnatural occurrences.
It seemed to make him feel more alive. He looked for the two guards who stood at his wife's door, but they were nowhere to be found. He deduced that they had left to celebrate along with the others. He felt his luck was on the uptick. Fate was allowing him this chance.
