Capítulo 26: 2. The inspector
The day had just started in the Leone house and the family had just all sat down for breakfast. Today was a special day and even Jackson was here to help celebrate. The person they were celebrating for however did not look very lively. Robert had clear bags under his eyes and seemed half asleep.
Mariah looked at him with a helpless look and said, "really Roby, did you sleep at all last night. You look like a zombie."
"Nope, not a wink. I feel like I've been waiting for today for decades, so I was too excited. Next thing I knew you were calling me for breakfast." Robert looked distressed as he said this. He was far too excited last night. He spent the entire night thinking of what the junior league was like, where it was, battling the other trainers there.
He wasn't the only one either. Eevee and Vulpix were in the same boat. Turns out the two little fuzz balls were just as excited about this as him and longed to go adventuring. Robert knew they had grown bored of the farm but didn't realise they were as eager to leave as him.
Everyone proceeded to enjoy breakfast while talking and helping themselves to the amazing meal Mariah had laid out for them. After the meal was done Robert excused himself to get some sleep. Robert tailed by his Eevee and Vulpix proceeded to drag themselves upstairs to his bedroom to attempt to get at least a little sleep before the inspector arrived.
Two hours later, Dennis was outside talking to some of the workers when he heard a loud screech from the sky "REEEEeeee". Dennis and the workers all looked up and spotted a large bird shape zipping down from the sky in their direction.
The workers panicked and were prepared to start running. They all thought that this was a wild Pokémon attacking. while it was uncommon for a wild Pokémon to where people live, it wasn't unheard of. Just as the workers were going to start running, they noticed Dennis hadn't moved at all yet. They all calmed down a little seeing this and gathered behind him.
While the workers thought Dennis stood still because he could deal with this Pokémon, he knew better. The moment he spotted it he could feel the powerful aura rolling off it and knew even if every Pokémon on this farm fought this beast, they would be wiped out without leaving a scratch. The reason why he was still calmly standing there is that after spotting the creature in the air, he also noticed it seemed to have something else riding its back…
Just before the creature hit the ground it gave a powerful beat of its wings, coming to a halt and kicking up a cloud of dust. After the dust blew away the workers almost screamed and ran away at what they saw. It stood a little over two meters tall, had a metallic shell that gleamed in the sun, it had a birdlike figure but bulkier and a bladed tail with bladed metallic red feathers for wings. "SKAAAR" it spread its wings and made a loud bellow, after which the only person not shivering on his butt and still standing was Dennis.
Dennis was sweating hard looking at the mighty Skarmory standing Infront of him and quickly called out, "Mr inspector, please tell you're Skarmory to settle down or my farm will have all the Pokémon and people scared away."
"Alright Skarmory settle down. As for you, I would appreciate it if you didn't call me mister." Dennis heard a mature feminine voice from Skarmory's back quickly followed by the inspector jumping down and standing next to it.
The inspector was a mature woman who looked to be mid-thirties at most. She had long light brown hair and blue eyes. She wore shorts and long boots leaving only her knees exposed, a tank top with a jacket over it. As she stood there with one arm resting on her hip and the other relaxed to her side next to her terrifying Skarmory, saying she looked imposing is putting it lightly. Dennis could also tell that the arm looked relaxed it unintendedly hovered near the other Pokéball's on her belt, ready to act.
Dennis was beyond shocked. The person that came to inspect the twins 5 years ago was like a beginner trainer compared to this woman, and he was a Senior ranked trainer. This woman was an Elite rank trainer and not a low ranking one. Dennis was even starting to doubt if this was the inspector. From what he heard inspectors were senior rank, maybe newly promoted Elite rank were sent to some rich and well-known families. This woman was none of those by a long shot.
Dennis hesitated a little but still spoke up in the end, "are you the inspector sent here to check Robert." The woman looked at Dennis, a little surprised that he had managed to withstand the presence of her Skarmory so well. The other workers had only just started to pick themselves up after it settled down.
"I am Margret Chromium, I am here to test if Robert Leone is qualified for the junior league. Where is he." Dennis smiled wryly, this woman managed to ignore him and answer his question at the same time. Although he could accept her being arrogant as she was a very powerful trainer, she didn't need to look down on him that much did she.
Dennis side glanced at the other side of Skarmory and a mischievous glow entered his eyes. This woman might be arrogant but let's see how long she keeps it up Infront of that imp. Under the eyes of Margret, he simply pointed to the other side of Skarmory. Margret scrunched her brows at this, she thought it was a bit rude but looked over. There she saw a tan athletic-looking boy with brown short hair and an almost visible glow beaming from his eyes as he looked at her Skarmory.
Robert had been woken up after Skarmory cried out. Robert has always had incredible eyesight and when he looked out the window he could tell what Pokémon it was. He also saw the saddle strapped to it and although he couldn't make out the figure on its back he could tell it was a person.
Any sleepiness Robert still had was left behind as he raced outside like a bolt of lightning.
Because Margret was standing with her back to the house she didn't see Robert race over and Robert had his eyes glued to the Pokémon, completely ignoring everything else.
As he studied it up close, he couldn't help admire it. this Skarmory was a beast. It is bigger than you're standard one and every feather on its wings looked sharp enough to cut steel like a hot knife through butter. The talent of this guy was also amazing, it was Dark Gold.
When Margret looked over and saw the boy studying her Skarmory and completely ignore her she couldn't help her brow twitch. "Are you Robert Leone?". Robert reluctantly tore his eyes away from Skarmory and looked at the woman for the first time. He blinked a couple of times and then asked, "who are you auntie." Margret's twitch got worse.
Margret was 34 this year and hated whenever someone pointed out her age, yet this brat just called her auntie. Also, the look in his eyes was like she did something wrong by making him look away from HER Skarmory. Margret ground her teeth a little and said, "I'm the inspector here to test you and this is MY Skarmory so you-" when she announced she was the inspector, Robert get excited but when she said the Skarmory was hers that glow came back to his eyes. "this Skarmory is yours, why is it so much bigger than normal? Is this from your training or is it naturally larger than others? Did you do anything special to make his wings look so sharp, is it true Skarmory uses the feathers in its wings to attack? How did you…."
Before Margret could finish she was bombarded with a stream of questions. The more Robert went on the more her brow twitched, this kid was really testing her limits. Dennis couldn't help but snicker a little at this, his son never failed to live up to his expectations.
