Capítulo 8: The Good Times

"Ugh!" Jean groaned as she lay her face down on her desk. "Why must we school?"

I raised my eyebrow at her groaning. "Don't worry, Jean. One more Year and we can graduate early." I tried cheering her up.

"I get that, but still..." She moaned again.

"Just leave her be. She had a rough night." Eve said to me as she took her seat behind mine.

"You two stay up all night studying again?" I asked her.

"Yup. If we wanted to get into this class, we had to make a compromise. Unlike you, WE actually need to study to get into the Luciel Holdings sponsored advanced class." Eve said, giving me a nudge.

"Hey, for once, this wasn't on me but the PR team thought it'd be nice," I responded with my hands in the air.

This was true to a certain extent. The idea was the PR teams, but I altered it for Midtown High specifically. During this last year, I'd been seeing more and more people of importance entering Midtown. Everyone like the expected Harry Osborn and Flash Thompson, to even people I didn't expect at all, like Luke Cage (Powerman) and Tyrone Johnson (Cloak). I was curious, so I used my powers and holy moly were there quite a few potential supers roaming the halls.

So, being as I couldn't just leave sleeping dogs as they lay, I decided to gather everyone into a 'special advanced class'. This came with a full scholarship, free lunch and bus or train fares, tons of field trips to technology institutes, and more. It was called the excellence class and was very experimental in its design.

How do I know this? Well, it's because of who was teaching the class.

The screen in the center of the room which was dormant until now lit up. On the screen was a cartoonish image of a woman standing in an idle animation, its 'eyes' scanned the entire classroom for a moment before the woman smiled satisfied.

"Welcome Class! My name is Miss J! I'll be your personal teacher for our next year of high school together!" The AI said.

I tried really hard not to smirk as she gave her introduction. The SCPverse is perhaps one of the darkest in all of fiction when you get down to it, but it also has some of the most helpful tools in all of fiction. Case and point, SCP-5094. An SCP that, for lack of a simpler term, is a benevolent AI that is supernaturally good at teaching any subject imaginable from particle physics, marine engineering, Vietnamese military history, Cubist sculptures, etc. The instruction quality is equivalent to a Master's level degree at University and all students, regardless of their temperament or actual learning ability, were shown to be able to master the knowledge.

'If I'm practically omnipotent right now, there's no real reason NOT to introduce this information to the world, or at least to this class.' I thought.

"Now now! I think I've rambled on for long enough with my introduction." Miss J laughed. "It's time to see who my students for this year are! We can start in the front. You don't have to tell me any interesting facts about yourself or anything boorish like that, but can you at least introduce yourself with your name? Gotta know what to call my student's after all!" Miss J started.

Her Charisma was contagious and the first person in the front row stood up and introduced himself.

"My name is Luke Cage! I'm a member of the Football Team!" The buff black teen said, making sure to flex and give us a good 'show'.

"My name's Alex, uh- Alexander O'Hirn! Nice to meet you." Alex said, a bit awkwardly and sat straight back down.

"Greetings. I am Daniel Rand. It is both a privilege and an honor to be under your instruction, Misses Jay." Danny Rand said, giving a deep and respectful bow to the screen.

"Oh! What a lovely young man!" Miss J stated.

Like this, the introduction continued. Tyrone Johnson (Cloak), Flash Thompson, Tandy Brown (Dagger), Liz Allen, Katherine Pryde (Shadowcat), Amadeus Cho, Felicia Hardy (Black Cat), Anne Marie (Rogue), Cody Robbins, Bobby Drake (Iceman), Stephany Kircher, Sam Alexander (Nova), Jessica Jones (Jewel), Hary Osborn, and a still mute Cassidy Wu-San.

Obviously, my group of Peter, MJ, Gwen, Jean, Eve, and I too, but that was pretty obvious.

"What a Lovely class! Now that I've got all of your names, I'll make sure to come up with personalized learning curricula for each and every one of you, but that's enough of that for now! Class is over for today, but if you want to stay around and chat, I'm all for it." Miss J said as she dismissed us.

Some of the people, especially the ones who didn't know me that well, didn't know what to do with the sudden free time, so I decided there weren't that many of us, and I could use the contacts for them all, so I called everyone and invited them to a party at a local pizza place I'd invested in heavily.

No one was saying no to free pizza on an early half-day, so they accepted, though Harry, trying to steal my thunder, offered to pay instead.

We all had a nice afternoon, surprisingly. Even Flash was pretty chill and not picking on everyone with thinner pecks than him, as you'd expect. This may or may not be because his father was an employee for my company and actually had a fulfilling work life so he wasn't abusive to his child, which caused Flash's behavior problems. it could also be because he was just a good dude in this universe. Who knows?

I was sitting next to Cassidy as I dug into a slice of Pizza bigger than my head.

"MMM!!!" I loudly moaned. "Meatlovers with mushrooms! So good!"

Cassidy looked at me with a raised eyebrow before taking a slice for herself. She looked at it with Hesitation before giving another glance around the table. Everyone was enjoying themselves and Socializing. Even introverted Alex O'Hirn was talking martial arts with Danny Rand. I didn't know he was interested, to be honest.

"Sweet Chrismas! This is the best pizza I've ever had! Thanks for showing me this place Damian!" Luke said in his loud and boisterous voice before shoving another slice down his gulet.

"Hey now, I'm the one paying, remember?" Harry called out jovially.

I turned to look at Cassandra. "It's not going to eat itself you know," I whispered to her.

Cassy looked at me with a neutral expression and gave a brief nod before taking a bite. Her eyes went wide the moment she began to chew and she was stunned for a moment before hastily devouring the rest of the slice in only a few bites. She then looked at her greasy hands in wonder for a moment. Any expression on her normally expressionless face was rare, so seeing genuine and pure almost childish wonder, made her seem really cute.

Cassy then looked down towards the rest of the pizza and in one swift motion, peeled off another slice and dug in. Just as fast as she did the first time.

"Damn that's cute!" Eve mentioned from beside me.

Cassy looked over at Eve, pizza still in her mouth, and raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding what she was talking about. The small dollop of pizza sauce on her cheek accentuating her clueless adorableness.

"Ugh! So cute! Must protect!" Eve called out overdramatically.

Jean gave her a quick flick on the forehead to wake her up from her strange version of Cassy worship. I laughed at that and reached for the last slice of pizza, only to have my hand slapped and the piece stolen by the covetous Cassandra, who gave me a little glare.

My eye twitched at this. "Why you little-" I stewed but a firm pat on the back by Luke kept me from continuing that train of thought.

"Haha! Hey, well don't worry about it too hard man! There's enough money in Osborn's wallet for as much pizza as we want!" he laughed loudly.

"Hey!" Harry jokingly quipped back.

Everyone laughed at that, but Luke Cage and Cassandra seemed to lock eyes for a moment and gave each other firm nods of understanding only possible between two friends who knew and understood each other. Which was weird since today was the first time they'd met.

As if to prove the point Luke made earlier, a server then arrived with another large meat-lovers with mushrooms for us all to enjoy. I smiled happily. This was the life.

I didn't really realize it until just this moment, but I really missed out in Highschool. I let something that didn't even really matter destroy my whole life. Eating pizza with friends after school and just chilling. I guess the saying 'You don't know when you're in the good old days until they're gone' isn't entirely accurate after all.

...

"You sure?" I asked Harry as he forked over his credit card to the cashier.

"Yeah, don't worry about it. Thanks for bringing us here. I like this spot, might bring some lady friends of mine around." Harry said, giving me a fistbump.

"You mean the cheer squad?" Luke asked from behind me.

"I plead the fifth!" He said, receiving the card and receipt back from the very somewhat familiar-looking woman behind the counter.

Everyone gave this a good chuckle, as we head outside. "What's everyone going to do after this?" I asked the crowd.

"Tandy and I are going shopping if anyone wants to come with," Kitty said with her plucky enthusiasm.

"I'd love to but someone's gotta give this guy his reward," Liz said suggestively as she snuggled closer to Flash, who smiled broadly.

"Well, I know where I'm going!" He said, scooping her up into a princess carry and walking away.

Um... I think Stephany and I will be going to the library." Alex meekly squeaked out.

I raised my eyebrow at that somewhat strange development but gave him a thumbs up anyway. Due to the fact men were much rarer than women in this world and harems were the norm as opposed to my previous world, there was also a completely different culture too. It was common for a guy to already have a wife candidate by the time they entered Highschool, but Alex was a sophomore and hadn't even had one potential girlfriend up until now. I half expected he was gay, but it looked like he was just waiting for the right person to come along.

I felt rather happy for my friend as we saw them off. Most of the others paired off too, until it was just the original group and Cassy remaining. I looked over to Peter, MJ, and Gwen.

"You girls going to train?" I asked.

Peter rolled his eyes. "No, not today. Maser gave us some time off to enjoy our youths. I thought I could take these two on a proper date." He said, putting his arms around both of their waists.

"Ooh! Tiger's a bit feisty today~" MJ cooed.

I rolled my eyes. "Just use protection when you go at it, yeah? The pheromones yall are emitting make you VERY fertile. I doubt we want a grandpa Ben and grandma May while we're still in highschool.

Gwen blushed at this, but Peter and MJ chuckled. I waved them off as they walked away, leaving only Jean, Eve, Cassy and I behind. I turned to them and asked.

"So, what are we going to do?" I asked.

"Actually, this time Jean and I need to do something ourselves. I'd love to bring Cassy with us, but I don't want to leave her by herself. She's too cute to leave alone!" Eve declared.

Jean, Cassy, and I collectively rolled our eyes at Eve's antics and I let them go but not before I waved my hand and gave them a protection form harm barrier using my power.

I turned to my mute friend and smiled. "So. What do you want to do today? We've got a whole city to explore!"

Cassy looked back up at me, not saying a word. There was a slightly awkward silence that I didn't quite know how to break. Thankfully, she stopped peering into my soul and turned, looking at something behind me with slight interest and suspicion. Seeing this, I grew curious and turned around, only to see the familiar looking woman from the cash register standing in the doorway.

As I turned to her, she smiled softly. "Afternoon. Mind we we have a little chat inside? My boss would like a word." She stated.

Cassy took up a defensive position and glared at the rooftop nearby the moment that was said. I used my power to notice a sniper was taking up their post there and had Cassy in their sight. The unique thing about that, though, was that he wasn't using a rifle, but a bow and arrow.

I sighed and rubbed my temples when I saw this. "Alright, but call off the archer, your making my friend nervous." I replied to her.

The woman looked shocked for a moment but quickly regained her calm a second later. "You heard the man." She said into the earpiece concealed behind her long flowing blonde hair.

I sensed the archer stop his aim and return the arrow to his quiver, though he didn't stop watching us. Cassy didn't lower her guard at all and scanned the surrounding buildings and roads for any more movement, but when I put my hand on her shoulder to calm her down, she seemed to give up, though she was still quite tense.

I followed the woman back into the pizza place and watched as she flipped the sign from open to closed. At the back was exactly who I was expecting. A tall black man with beard and eyepatch. The quintessential superspy himself and director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury, sitting at the bar, sipping on a coke.

"Well well. If it isn't the REAL CEO of Luciel Holdings, himself." He said in his exaggerated swagger tone, as he turned to face me. "And Guest." He motioned towards Cassy.

"Fury." I said briefly, showing him I knew who he was.

Fury smiled lightly as I did so. "We have a lot to talk about."
