On the third day, Slate glanced at her closed door before going inside their unit.
"Why don't you ask her where she is?" Scarlet asked him.
"What are you trying to say?" he rebuked removing his shoes and tie before going straight to the kutchen to have something cold to drink.
"I am talking about Amethyst, obviously you are also worried so why are you holding back?" Scarlet asked again.
He frowned at her, "Worried? Are you seriously saying that to me?"
Scarlet shook her head, "Dense."
She wheeled herself back to the living room with a sigh.
Slate shook his head as well at what she was talking about.
'Had been glancing at her door every time you leave and arrive, so why are you saying that you are not worried?' she wants to tell him straight but she knew he would just glare at him.
She kept grumbling in her mind as she typed on her laptop but soon it started trembling.
She frowned as she look at it, it was getting harder and harder to use her hands.
"What's wrong?" Slate came out to see her staring at her hands.
She shook her head and smiled, "It's nothing."
He silently looked at her but as a doctor, he of course saw that her hands were trembling.
They have accepted the fact that she was really dying. And these are the signs that says, she was really close already.

A week passed and Amethyst haven't returned.
At first they didn't call but soon became worried that Scarlet did her best to call, it wouldn't ring at first.
But after trying for a few days she was finally able to connect.
"Where are you?!?!"
Amethyst was shocked to hear the worry in her voice.
"I... I am alright, you have to calm down Scarlet. I was just in a place where the signal is very weak," she replied.
"You should have told us where you were going. Do you think we wouldn't care at all? That because you said you will take a leave that we wouldn't contact you?" Scarlet sniffed.
"Please calm down, I am really fine. I apologize for not saying anything about where I am going but I never intended for you to worry."
Scarlet sighed, "Fine, just where are you?"
Hearing her tone, Amethyst knew that she needs to tell Scarlet or she will end up worrying her to death.
"Don't worry, I am in a place close to Sagada. It is about six hours away from Baguio," she relented.
"Sagada?!?! You were that far? Just what were you trying to do that you actually run into that place?" Scarlet was utterly shocked to hear this.
"I am trying to get back up at my feet and staying at Baguio wouldn't help me. I knew I needed the quietness of the place, that is why I decided to come here," she explained.
"Are you sure, you really are alright?" Scarlet asked again.
Amethyst couldn't help but to laugh, "Don't worry I really am fine. You on the other hand, should stop worrying too much because that is bad for your health."
"If my younger sister isn't being like this then I wouldn't be such a worrywart," Scarlet instantly rebuked.
Amethyst could only laugh though it felt good that someone was actually treating her as a younger sister.
"Wasn't I your friend?" she couldn't help but joke.
"Yes, you are my friend," Scarlet replied.
'But who knows, you might even become my younger sister,' she added in her mind.
"Anyway, I really am fine here. You don't have to worry because the place is filled with nature as compared to the city. The signal was indeed poor but at the very least there was peace," she explained no longer lingering to that topic.
"Fine, go on and do what you need to do. Now that I know where you are and that you are fine, I am feeling better," Scarlet then said.
"Yes, just take care of your health, I will soon return as well," Amethyst said before they bid each other goodbye.
She just went to a grocery to buy some food and necessities Nad is on her way back to her place.
It was actually still an hour away from where she lives but it was fine, because just as she had said to Scarlet the peace was what made her decide to have a place here.
After getting back in her house, she organized her groceries before sitting in front of her laptop again.
The first few days was very difficult for her but at least right now, her fingers are moving one at a time.
She knew it was psychological but at the impact was too great that she was really having a hard time.
If not for Scarlet, she wouldn't even be motivated in overcoming this.

"Huh?" Slate was awoken by Scarlet early the next day.
And when he did wake up thinking there was an emergency, Scarlet was already packing his clothes.
"I said, You will be going and check on Amethyst yourself," she said before zipping up his small luggage.
"Why would I do that? And check on her? You knew where she was?" he raised an eyebrow as a response.
"I didn't know, I found out yesterday when I finally got the chance to talk to her in phone. And now, I want you to go to her and check on her personally. I asked Gabriel and he said that you have a two day off starting tomorrow. You took his duty yesterday that you were in an eighteen hour shift and today you are also free. That means you have three days off," she started saying making him frown more and more.
"And I asked him to take your duty on monday, so you will have a four day off, though you will have to work on Tuesday for another eighteen hours."
"Scarlet, I am a doctor," he didn't know where to start and could only say this first.
"I know," she raised an eyebrow and said.
"You can't have me working so much, what if I suddenly had a surgery and I am too tired to do it, then that would affect my performance," he explained.
"You are not in the emergency department and I made sure that Gabriel has no scheduled surgery on that day," she replied.
"But there could be sudden turn of events," he berated.
"He told me that there is someone else with you on duty who could take the surgery. You are not to take surgery when you just took his shift. The same goes for him, he can't do surgery on the hour that was supposed to be your duty. Another personnel on that duty will take it," she replied.
Slate could only shake his head, Gabriel was obviously taking Scarlety's side for him to ensure that none of them will have troubles in this shift changes.
"Did the head seriously agreed with this?" he asked again.
"Yup, Gabriel already talked to your head, so get up and be ready. A bus schedule will be at 8, the earliest was 6 but I could only wake you up at 6 knowing that you are tired."
"Bus?" he was once again shocked.
"Yes, because I want you to bring Amethyst back when you do. Or you can ride the bus again to return," she replied.
"You can't make her do what you want her to. She has her own decisions," he couldn't help but to get mad.
"I told you, bring her back or use the bus again. If she was still not ready then use the bus. If she is then you two won't have to use two cars. I am giving her options and not making her do what I want."
She even placed her hands on her waist as she said this.
Slate could see that he has no more way out of this, so he could only comply.
As for work related stuffs, I am trying to create a scene that is as much as possible acceptable in reality.... I am not saying it was okay for the real life work... ^_^
