Capítulo 78: Divine Power!
[Are you guys going to keep hiding for long!]
I call to my disciples. Meanwhile, I'm just petting the wolf. The beast is lying on his back tongue out. Belly upward just enjoying the moment. Just gotta wait a bit. Here they come. Like mischievous kids that were wandering outside. Rushing trying to be forgiven.
"Teacher, you managed to subdue him! I knew you would!"
"Of course! Teacher is awesome and…"
"You guys!"
The wolf gets up abruptly then pounces at them. I can see the surprise and the horror in both of them. Seems they expected me to have restrained him or something.
"Nooooo!"
The bird manages to fly away but the bear is quickly caught. Then the wolf starts enthusiastically licking his face. With enough saliva to end a draught instantly. The scene is kinda funny to watch. The bear acting pitifully. He looks at me pleadingly.
[Alright, it's enough for now.]
"Bear it's been so long!"
"It could have been longer!"
"Hehe, you say that but you always come visit."
"I'm not visiting, we live in the same forest! You are the one taking long walks in the forest!"
"Hehe, same thing."
After long walks on the beach, introducing long walks in the forest. It allows you to meet and lick lots of new friends! Oh god, that sounds horrible. Now I understand why the wolf is a bit unpopular. He's just way too friendly. The in-your-face kind of friendliness.
"Ah, right! Do you guys want to visit my cave?!"
[Sure, I guess.]
His tail is wiggling excitedly. He proudly shows us the way. Describing the surrounding on our way all the while. No, there is nothing hidden.
He just talks about how much he likes every individual rock or tree. Places that are great for running. Places that are great for practicing acrobatics.
My disciples are staying a fair distance away. Meanwhile, I'm following right behind him. He showcases his dwelling proudly. The is roc staying outside.
Let's just say it the exact opposite of the bear's secret base. It is just a hole. Nothing else. No furniture. Nothing special. Calling this place a base is similar to calling abstract art, art.
Unpopular opinion, but if something isn't cool, I do not care about the concept behind it. Ah, I try not to judge too much, however. People are allowed their opinions too.
But when white canvases get sold for millions, I call bullshit. Also money laundering, but that's another story.
Anyway, my expectations were low, and I still end up disappointed. This is too empty. Actually, there are a few bones lying around. I can't even identify what species it belongs to. Somehow the others don't seem worried.
[What's with all the bones?]
"These are all precious treasures! I got them from mindless beasts on the outskirt of the forest!"
[Mindless?]
"The weak ones that can't think well. They are too weak for that."
Oh, I see. The animals talking and all is not common in this world it seems. These guys are just special it seems.
[So, remains of your food?]
He nods.
"This bear believes you shouldn't waste time for such trivialities!"
"Eating is great!"
"*Scoff* With all the mana in this place why would you even eat?!"
That explains a lot.
[Stop bickering you both. It doesn't matter.]
I go back outside. The both of them following me.
*Crunch*
I step on a bone and… I'm tempted to just do something. I grab one.
[Here, wolf. Go fetch this!]
*THROW*
He happily runs after it then comes back. I redo the process a few times. That should help him burn a bit of his energy.
My two disciples start whispering on the side. Completely shocked. Calling fetching an insanely powerful technique. One that forces anyone to follow one's whims. They are wondering how to do it.
Sharing how they never saw what magic I even used. Marveling at its power. As the wolf is farther, the bear comes nearby and begs me to teach him.
I pat his head then tell him he now has the power to do the same. He believes me. Then he starts playing fetch with the wolf too. He looks at his paws in bliss. Happily reveling in his newfound power.
I can somehow deduce what he is thinking. With this technique, he will not have to fear the crazy lickings anymore. I can even see tears of gratitude in the corner of his eyes.
Then the roc makes a ruckus. Pleading for the same power. I feel like a god dispensing divine blessings.
I act a little again. Then starts an intense session. A trio of fools throwing and retrieving bones. Over and over again. Without getting tired of it.
Seeing this makes me realize how crazy this is. Kinda beautiful too. How much they can appreciate the moment. How much they are deriving joy out of this. It doesn't take them much to be happy.
Somehow, all my worries seem exaggerated now. After a while, they get bored of it. Well, except the wolf. He wants to keep going but it is time for a serious discussion.
I ask him about this forest. He loves to take walks so he should know more. Or not. Apparently, he often stays in the same territory. He does tell me that he can introduce me to one guy.
I get the feeling that every day I am meeting someone new. Is this going to be a trend for a while? What is this? P@kemon?!
Gotta meet them all! Except they are not going to fight for me. Nope, they are all becoming my disciples or something. Ah, actually the wolf doesn't seem to care about that. He just wants someone to play with. This time I have learned my lesson.
[So, who exactly will we be meeting?]
"Someone that is very boring. All he does all day is play with rocks."
[How is it better than bones?]
"Bones are great! One can chew on it! Rocks are just the worst!"
[So, should we head there in the morning?]
"Ah, we can go now if you want. He is always playing with rocks no matter the time anyway."
