Clare was aiming to hit Carburi's back, but the orc endured the impact. Before Clare could move, Carburi had moved to deliver a cut to the girl.

Seeing this, Clare immediately realized that it was too late to counterattack. She was too close. 

Clare gritted her teeth and closed her eyes to focus her magic on protecting her heart. Just as she did, Clare heard Hanna's voice. 

"Long distance!" The young woman cast a spell that instantly distanced Carburi from Clare. In a blink of an eye, Carburi returned all the way to the staircase. 

Once in that place, the young woman decided that she would not stop. Malcom had said that she and Skyler were the trump cards. Hanna wanted to believe that as well. 

In her mind, maybe she was not on Skyler's level, but she would not allow her teammates to be hurt.
