Apryl didn't feel as tired when she got as she had the day before despite the fact that she had gotten home later. Maybe there had been something to what Keith said about walking around the campus would help to wake her up.
Lydia was in the kitchen with her mom today doing what Apryl assumed was going over a recipe and practicing her mom's handwriting. Summer had wanted to collect as many recipes from her cousin as possible that when she was able to move to someplace else with her only family, she would have a starting to point to cook from.
"Hey sweetheart, how did it go today?" Summer asked as Apryl came over to give her a hug.
"It went well. Everything should be submitted correctly so I am just waiting now. There's a few things I need to do from home now so that I will know right away when I get accepted or not, but Keith said there shouldn't be a reason why I wouldn't be."
"What's your major?" Lydia asked, not looking up at her as she continued to help her mom with coping the recipe.
"I was thinking business for now. I might change my mind later once I have more time to look into the options and see what is best." Apryl replied as she took a seat at the table. Brian had work today she remembered so she knew that he wouldn't be around.
Apryl didn't really mind Brian, but being a werewolf, she felt that there was something about him that bothered that she couldn't place. Part of her thought that perhaps it was because he and his mate were technically the 'alphas' of the house even though they were family and even without her father there, her mom was still female alpha over her family.
The strange dynamic made Apryl uncomfortable because there was no clear boundary lines and such. She respected Brian but didn't feel the need to take orders or listen to what he said because he wasn't in her line of command probably would never be to her. Plus if anything happened to Summer, Apryl would be taking over because she was one of the eldest daughters in the pack and most comfortable with such a position.
"That's a good choice for a degree. It may be a bit stressful for you as there is a lot of information to retain and memorize, but I am sure once you get into you'll do just fine."
"Yeah... I think once I get enrolled I'm supposed to have an advisor who will help me navigate some of this. Plus, I won't be able to enroll in certain classes until I take others first so I will have some time to learn what I need to. I haven't visited what they call the library yet, but it looks huge from the outside and supposedly there are resources to help learn college class related stuff in there that's free." Apryl replied.
"Library is a good place for resources, not just books and such though. You can book appointments for tutoring as well." Lydia told her. "It might not be a bad idea to consider that even before you get into college. They offer workshops to help with navigating computers, school website and so much more." Apryl grimaced when she heard that. She had nothing against such things and she was sure they'd be plenty helpful. Her problem came down to the fact that all humans her age appeared to know everything she was struggling with and because of that, she didn't want people to think she was stupid or get the wrong impression of her.
"I'll consider it if I need." She told her aunt as she turned more of her focus on what her mom was doing, she was getting better every day she practiced.
Practice reminded her that she needed to go and visit with Oreo and Timid and see if they had made any progress in their own. She was probably putting too much faith into thinking that Oreo would try to be human on his own, but she hoped the thought of independence would be a good incentive.
Incentive, that was something she wished everyone aside from her mom and she had. Her sisters had been trying, sure but because she was there and already doing so much, it felt like they didn't see the problem with taking longer to adjust. Which was exactly the problem. They didn't have much time to adjust or breath. Their dad wasn't there, their mom was about to burst with pups on top of their little siblings who couldn't shift or fend for themselves yet along with two omegas. Oreo although slow was really the only other one trying and it was honestly stressing her out.
She was doing the best that she could, but unlike in the wild, humans had different rules that meant they needed money if they wanted to survive in this type of world. Apryl would've liked to think that she could make enough to provide for everyone but knew that wasn't the case.
She was also aware Brian more than Lydia would be wondering how long everyone would be invading their home and costing them so much extra money. She couldn't blame him either as she would probably feel the same way if she was in his position.
Her options on what she could however were limited until she got used to college and could see about a job. Maybe then she could figure out some type of living arrangement or pay her aunt and mate back for everything they'd done over the week.
"I'm going to borrow the computer to do some of the setup stuff for the college that Keith told me I'd want to focus on." Apryl told her mom and aunt as she got up from the table.
"Okay, Brian won't be home for a while yet so there won't be anyone else needing it. Let me know if you have any problems though and I'll see what I can do." Lydia. She smiled and said thank you as she left the room.
Keith had provided her with the temporary login information and her Aunt had setup her email so all she had to do was login and mess with a few things and that would be one less problem.
