~~~(POV: Nate Opal)~~~
~~~(Location: Heading For Partition Major Troop Training Camp, Dantooine)~~~
The wind blows my dark hair back as we travel through the open plains of Dantooine. Nella is on a speeder next to mine. We're a minute out from the training camp Major Riley is located.
Everything we're doing is a roundabout way of getting to what I need. The reason I'm doing this is to save lives. Killing people or nearly killing people for the information I'm after isn't something I want to expose to Nella.
That part of me died on Ilum when I learned the truth about everything. We begin to slow down as the speeder's console starts beeping. Once we stop outside the training camp's gates, several humans and aliens come out.
All of them are holding blasters and pointing them at us. From the center of the squad comes a man that I can sense many emotions from. He's wrathful and brimming with hate. All of it's directed at me.
He's a Twi'lek.
"Major Riley. The Jedi pair that were spotted at the landing pad are here. The same one that stole the holo-communicator."
He speaks into his earpiece. He's at least professional enough to resist attacking. I can sense there is a deep resentment in him. All the angry Twi'leks I've encountered in my time are from one incident.
The destruction of Ryloth.
"Yes, ma'am."
Seems he's received orders back. He holsters his weapon and gives a hand signal for everyone else to do the same.
"Follow me. Try anything, and I swear on my children, I'll blast holes in your head."
Can't make disdain and hate any clearer than that. Nella follows closely behind as we're led into the camp. My senses spread out, and I get a mixture of everything. There are a lot of mad Twi'leks here.
"Ryloth?"
The single word leaves my mouth in the direction of the man leading us. He stops in his tracks and spins around. His hand shaking in rage.
"Yeah, Ryloth."
He sees my lack of reaction as an insult. I can sense his desire to kill me. To make me feel pain. There is a deep seeded revenge in this man. The odds are good. I killed lots of people important to him on Ryloth.
All the soldiers and trainee's around us are on edge. Some are holding the handles of their weapons but not drawing them yet.
"Your hate and anger blind you."
He grits his teeth with malice I've only seen on Sith. My mind enters his without his knowledge. Seeing everything as I do. His sister and his wife. Both were on Ryloth. All he has left now are two kids and Dantooine.
"Your sister and wife. Those are who died on Ryloth. Seems I tore more away from you than most can say."
His hand grabs the handle of his blaster, and he brandishes the weapon at me. His arm shakes in rage.
"Corporal!! Stand down!"
A feminine voice breaks from ahead, and that is when the group of soldiers ahead parts. Major Riley, from what I can see. She's a human and a young one at that. Around 26, from the looks of it. Commanding all these people at such a young age.
The man almost doesn't listen, but he reholsters his weapon and speedwalks out of the group. Heading in a random direction.
"You didn't have to provoke him."
I can sense Nella agrees with Major Riley's words. A simple wave of her hand and all the troops around us disperse. Leaving us alone.
"It wasn't provocation. I was ascertaining why he felt the way he did around me. I have a poor reputation when it comes to the Twi'leks of the galaxy."
Her hands fold behind her back, and she takes on a more relaxed position. Her attention drifts toward Nella, and I can sense curiosity in her.
"Last I read from your file, you traveled alone. Abusing and using your powers on anything and anyone. However, that was several years ago. It's been a long time since I served The Republic."
I can't deny such words.
"When you're but a child with the power to destroy worlds, things get complicated. But that's also in the past. I'm not an enemy of The Republic anymore."
A scoff comes from the Major.
"Figures."
It's rare to find people who don't like the Jedi. I can sense she assumes I received special treatment because I was once a Jedi, and my old master is The Grandmaster of The Jedi Order.
"Enough idle chatter. Let's head for my private residence."
Looks like we're getting a shot, and they must be desperate to rely on the help of someone so despised.
