[ Shrek Academy, Poseidon Lakefront ]
Despite how much grandeur Xin Qing came in with, the first day proceeded rather uneventfully. Although both Zhu Lu and Dai Huabin had lost to Xin Qing two versus one, they were still some of the stronger students. As a result, they would be the main fighters while Xin Qing only had to occasionally let out some sword strikes. He did not mind, however, as it would keep his actual strength a secret from the opponents.
After it was done, he split up from Dai Huabin on the way to the dormitory. Huabin, knowing the nature of his teammate, did not stop him or even ask any questions as he continued to walk away.
Over the past few days, Xin Qing had not stagnated and was able to break through to Rank 30 at anytime he wanted. He refrained from doing so only because he began to realize that he may have come across a great discovery. As the energy within his Dantian grew and formed the vague shape of a sphere over the past couple of days, he knew his hypothesis was correct.
With a rare eager expression on his normally placid face, he dove into the lakefront and took out his golden pills from the incident with the fire woman, preparing to break through.
Divinities began to congeal around him, bathing him in a golden glow of light as sounds of collision reverberated through the area. This is why he chose to break through in the sea, as not only was the pressure around him greater, but it also insulated sound much better.
After an hour of this, his body let out a golden glow from his chest area. As he looked down, Xin Qing smiled brightly. Indeed, he had formed his Golden Core in this new world. Although, it was now made of a different energy, he knew that there would be immeasurably benefits awaiting him.
'Whew,' he thought, 'It's surprisingly difficult to form even a single core in this world. If I did not have the heavenly laws to aid me, I am afraid that my body would have burst from the inner turmoil. Perhaps it is because it is a method not belonging to this world or usually not accessible at my current level.' Either way, he did not care, as his future was now incomparably brighter.
The Xin Qing of an hour ago was incomparable to the present him. But he knew that he could go much farther. Leaving the lake, he inspected his Golden Core, as he contemplated which Body Art to cultivate.
In his old world, sects were sects not only for their vast resources but also profound inheritances. The Nine Sun Sword Sect was not simply better than others at swordsmanship, however this peak inheritance learned by core disciples was a large part of why they dominated the practice.
In truth, the term 'Nine Sun Sword' was not in reference to a sword or a sword technique but rather a sword-related Body Art with the element of Yang, called the Nine Sun Sword Body Art. This was the core technique of the Nine Sun Sword Sect, which it had been named after. Due to the rarity of Body Arts, most disciple wished to one day learn the top-tier Body Art inheritance.
However, as the Body Art was simply inferior to his own sword constitution, Xin Qing himself never had any use for it. Furthermore, he knew the truth behind the technique.
Although the Nine Sun Sword was the most prominent inheritance, the sect also held a far greater Body Art inheritance called the Nine Solar Eclipse Body Art, which the former was derived from. One might wonder why they chose to cultivate the inferior Body Art if they had the better version, but there was a great reason for this.
The Nine Solar Eclipse Body Art was indeed very strong and even comparable to Xin Qing's own sword constitution, however it was Yin-based. In his old world, all Yin-based techniques were seen as taboo as they were not human inheritances but demonic inheritances. All those who cultivated in such techniques would be relentlessly pursued by the experts of the human race. So even though many still cultivated Yin techniques for power, they often did not live to tell the tale.
Xin Qing however, being on the road of death, was not as narrow-minded as his predecessors and fellow sword cultivators of the righteous path. Sadly, his own constitution was extremely yang in nature, preventing the two from co-existing, so he could never practice it. He could only silently remember it in case he ever needed it.
'Never did I expect to be able to cultivate it in my next life,' Xin Qing thought, smiling. Indeed, he already chose to cultivate the Nine Solar Eclipse Body Art, not only because it was stronger but also because his sword was Yang and quickly growing stronger. If he did not get a more Yin-based body, he would likely die under his own Yang extremity.
Xin Qing sighed. 'It seems as though Heaven wishes for me to remain pretty for life.' He already accepted the fact that, for this power, he would likely tread a path of no return, becoming an incomparably pretty boy. He shook his head, thinking, 'A sword cultivator does not hesitate. Once I rule the Heavens, what stops me from restoring my appearance.' And with that, he started to revolve his spiritual essence.
The same process from earlier continued, as he rotated his Yang in reverse. Normally, this would cause a backlash however Xin Qing was doing it properly according to the manual. The demon cultivators who made it were much more vicious and insane than human cultivators, which is why only they could have thought of such a devious cultivation method.
Eventually, the process stopped. As Xin Qing peered inside himself, he saw a kind of small universe. Right now, it was only in its infancy as there was only his Dantian acting as a single sun and a small planet moving around it. However, he could already feel that his body was stronger, his energy was more solidified and in much greater capacity. In addition, he saw that next to his Yang essence was a small speck of a black ink-like substance.
His smile grew wider. 'Pure Yin essence. Although, it's only in rudimentary form, it will eventually grow to match my Pure Yang. When I wield them together, Heavenly Law will resonate more than fivefold as I summon the Heavenly Dao.' He could not help but let out an unrestrained laugh.
To the sky, he whispered, "Good, good. Here I was wondering if I should finally get my first spirit ring, but perhaps I can afford to be greedier." Although he was able to easily acquire a hundred-year spirit ring, he wanted at least a thousand-year one, as he knew his sword and body could handle it. He knew the prize for the winning team was help in securing a spirit ring of their choice, and he had no plans to miss out on such an opportunity.
Brushing himself off as he got up from the ground, he was about to return to the dorm when he saw a messy-haired old man sitting on the ground, watching him.
The elder's appearance was unkept and much like a beggar's but his eyes carried a subtle dominating intent. Xin Qing did not miss this, immediately noticing that this beggar-like senior carried the greatest amount of divinities he had seen so far. As the mysterious senior munched on a chicken leg with his left hand, he asked with grease still on his lips, "A freshman?"
