[ Shrek Academy, Poseidon Lakefront ]
Yuhao and Wang Dong were traveling to the Poseidon Lakefront when they saw a black-haired boy with a bamboo hat sat over the lake's railing. It was Xin Qing. Remembering how he was never able to thank him for saving him from Xu Sanshi, Yuhao intended to go over when Wang Dong stopped him.
Frankly speaking, Wang Dong did not like Xin Qing. It was not so much a grudge against his character but more so the fact that Wang Dong felt as if the latter knew his secret, making him uneasy and wanting to avoid confrontation. Pulling his hand, Wang Dong led Yuhao away into the forest they came from.
Xin Qing himself did not pay any mind to their activities. He was in a state of being one with nature and although he was not cultivating in the typical sense, this could be considered another form of cultivation. He was simply enjoying the divinities present in the natural environment.
As a cultivator of the Heavenly Laws, Xin Qing was greatly in tune with the environment, which led to his aura being innately serene but also able to disrupt the surrounding elements if he wishes. This was the 'chaotic aura' that many saw from him, nothing more than elemental disturbance.
Being his life-bound instrument, his Truth-Seeking Yang Sword reflected this quality of his after it became his martial spirit. His innate ability was to reduce the effectiveness of elemental attacks against him by 20%, which would slowly increase as his sword evolved.
This elemental resistance was further buffed by another 15% towards ice-based and dark-based attacks due to the nature of his own Pure Yang element. As for fire or light, you could simply forget about them doing serious damage to him unless it was at the same level as his Pure Yang.
This is why, when he saw a powerful heat signature emerging over the horizon, he was completely unworried. He only began to worry as it quickly approached him over the lake, noticing that it was far stronger than he initially believed. But after a closer look, he sighed in relief.
At first, he thought it was a fire-based demon cultivator because of the presence of both fire and dark elements. It was only upon further inspection that he came to the conclusion that it was merely some kind of cultivation rebound, causing the cultivator to temporarily lose control. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence in his old world, although he was somewhat puzzled as to how it could occur here.
Regardless, he knew he found a powerful new source of heat that could be used quickly evolve his sword as the cultivation level should far surpass him. Normally, with this cultivation gap, he would not be so confident. However, because it was a rebound, the cultivator had no control and only power, meaning that it was no longer as dangerous. He would target her dark energy with his own Pure Yang, neutralizing it.
Of course, that did not mean he could win without any sacrifices, however. Xin Qing softly spoke, "5th Truth - Ambition."
This was a move that he comprehended when he was twelve in his last life. It was when he had been challenged by another high-leveled sword cultivator in a duel who was in possession of a Twelve-Leaved Yang Flower, a precious medicine which could give Xin Feng a breakthrough. The swordsman asked that Xin Qing bet his own title as the generation's greatest genius, coveting Xin Qing's glory and fame.
Naturally, not caring for status but only strength, Xin Qing agreed and they fought to the death. Obviously having lived to fifteen, Xin Qing was the winner. The match was close, however, as the two's great desires directly clashed. It could only be said that Xin Qing's Ambition was greater and, as a result, the 5th Truth he had realized during the battle was named Ambition.
However, it still true that he could only safely perform up to the 3rd Truth. By using the 5th Truth, he was accepting the price of injuring his sword hand for a month. Striking out with the move that was designed to use a greater will to turn the tables, the focused Xin Qing triumphed over the rebounded cultivator, who fell to the ground, still breathing.
Xin Qing did not kill the person as it was within his abilities and the person was not at fault. If either of the previous two conditions were not met, he would show no remorse in quickly cutting off their head. In the end, he was happy that he did not after he saw the cultivator's face.
He removed the mask to find a beautiful red-haired girl. Her skin was a healthy white as she peacefully slept after having Xin Qing purge her dark energy, stopping the rebound. But this was not the reason Xin Qing was happy as, although he could admire beauty, he did not really value it.
No, instead, it was the young age of the girl which surprised him. Although not as young as himself, likely being around nine years older, she was still considered young. Being this young in combination with having the strength of a Rank 60+ Spirit Emperor, meant that she should be a highly regarded talent, even in Shrek.
Xin Qing did not want to have to deal with the trouble of having killed such a precious genius, especially when he had not had a chance to reveal his own talent and gain a background.
Slipping her mask back on, he noticed that some teachers were on their way. He waited for them, knowing that he could likely get some compensation.
And he was right as, in exchange for his silence regarding the event, he was given cultivation-boosting pills.
Putting the golden pills in his pocket, he returned to class, where Zhou Yi had formally announced the beginning of the New Student Exams, a three versus three tournament battle between the freshman classes.
As Zhou Yi and the students left the class, Xin Qing leaned back in his chair. With one leg on the desk, Xin Qing peeked under his bamboo hat and gave a mischievous smile to his new teammates who stood in front of him, the cat-like Zhu Lu and the tiger-like Dai Huabin.
