Capítulo 4: The Little Lady, Shrek's Entrance Exam
[ Shrek City, Shrek Academy ]
A young boy with large, black eyes like gemstones wearing a large, bamboo hat stood in front of Shrek City's East Gate. With a carefree smile, he began to walk through it, when someone stopped him with their arm.
"Hey, you! With the bamboo hat!"
With the brim of his hat lowered, Qing Xin turned to face the person. It was a large, burly man with an unfriendly look on his face.
He gave a curt response, "Yes?"
The man snorted before putting his arm down. He looked Qin Xing up and down, he was going to ask him to remove his hat when he saw a chilling glint arise from the bottom of the hat, where a single black pupil was revealed.
"Er..." He fumbled around his words, taking a much more passive tone, "You don't appear to be a student of Shrek. This East Gate is only for those who are already Shrek students."
Hearing his words, Xin Qing hid his eye again, allowing the atmosphere to become serene once more. Understanding it was his fault for misunderstanding, he gave a slight bow with his hands cupped. "Forgive me, senior. I did not know of this. How may I register to become a Shrek student."
Seeing that Xin Qing was no longer hostile, the burly man relaxed. Waving his hands, "That's great, because you're just in time. Yes, to become a Shrek student you have to take the examination over there unless you have a recommendation, but not too many have one."
Xin Qing nodded at the man's words. "Indeed, senior, you are correct. I do not have a recommendation, so I will go to the examination, thank you." Cupping his hands once more, Xin Qing passed by the burly man.
Passing by, Xin Qing reflected on his action. 'I shouldn't have released killing intent here. It's no longer the same world I am familiar with and I am no longer the all-powerful cultivator Xin Qing.' He chastised himself internally.
The burly man only waved goodbye at the leaving Xin Qing, shouting, "Good luck on the exam, little lady!"
Xin Qing almost tripped over himself. He looked back over his shoulder and only saw an innocuous smile on the man's face meaning that he meant no harm by his remark. Dismissing his thoughts, he kept walking as he waved once to return the man's gesture.
After a while, he lined up with the rest of the examinees.
