The drive home was excruciating for Su Ning. Her earlier excitement has long since been replaced by hurt then anger, then longing and finally, disappointment. In truth, Su Ning had been anticipating an argument to ensue when she had said those words. She wanted to pull off Gu YuChen's stoic facade and see some raw emotion from the man. Was she the only one who was hurt by this? Did it not matter to him that their friendship was ending? Did he no longer care for her now that he had Sydney? Yet as usual Gu YuChen remained calm and unbothered which only left Su Ning all the more unsatisfied by the turn of events. Her words did not seem to affect Gu YuChen at all.

The once familiar and comfortable feeling of riding in the same vehicle as him became unbearable. Clearly, there were three people in the car but as far as conversations went, it was as if there were only two.
