For as much as the older beastkin tout the brazenness and overconfidence that younglings have, the truth of their bolstering is fairly plain to see for most. They cover their insecurities, their fears, their doubts, and their vulnerabilities with a veneer of pride and arrogance.
Thankfully for Noxtis and Embervesent, they were raised to temper themselves and be humble to those they respected as well as respect their opponent's abilities and skills. Not to be overtly cautious but also to realize their own worth and limits.
Even though he knew he was a fairly strong and capable beastkin in his own right, to compare or feel inferior to Flint, or any other very strong beastkin that was in this tournament, was a ridiculous thought. However; Noxtis couldn't help but have times when those kinds of feelings would appear.
