Capítulo 40: 40. Escalated.
"So there are only 8 sets of equipment for dragoons in existence?" Loki asks.
"Yes."
"And how many do you have?" Loki questions. "Hephaestus mentioned soul bound equipment and weapons. If I recall correctly she said you had 2 armaments and a weapon. I've also seen the Fire Dragoon armor."
"Smart, you are correct. I have more than 1 set of Dragoon equipment. I also know where the remaining ones are at and only I will be able to get them, Hephaestus could look all she wants and won't find a single thing, that is why I'm not worried about it." I reply casually.
"Besides fire which one do you have?" Loki asks.
"In total I have 6 of the 8 dragoon equipment sets." no use lying after all.
"And the living weapon she mentioned?" Loki asks eagerly.
"Did she mention something like that? I have no memory of it." I grin at the goddess.
"Liar!" She points at me.
I just shrug.
"Help me kill the one-eyed black dragon." Ais says from the side making everyone in the room stiffen.
"You know I've only been an adventurer for about a week right?" I ask her with a raised eyebrow.
The one-eyed black dragon was a legendary quest at the guild along with killing the Behemoth and Leviathan. That thing had slaughtered groups of level 9 adventurers.
"I'll help you." Ais says.
"You believe you and me could head down and kill the legendary dragon?" I ask with a frown.
"No, when you are stronger." She answers. "Then we kill it."
"I'm level 2, that thing has killed groups of level 9 heroes." I point out my problem with a frown. "In this entire city, there is what 2 level 7s? They probably maxed their stats to S rank before leveling up too or at least 2 or 3 stats. Plus didnt the Hera and Zues familia have numerous heroes under them at rank 9 with above maxed stats and still failed? Your mistake is thinking that you only need power to defeat that dragon. You need planning, you need equipment, you need skills and techniques, you need allies, and even then some of them might perish. You would risk your companions lives to kill this dragon?" I ask her seriously.
No hesitation. "I must kill the black dragon."
"Then what?" I ask the girl.
"Then nothing, I have killed the black dragon." She says like it's obvious.
"Even if you are left with no one and nothing at the end?" I question with a frown. "Then what is the point of doing something if you lose everything else in the process?"
"Point?" She asks confused. "My only goal is to kill the black dragon."
I look at the emotionless girl with some pity and shake my head. "Then you have wasted the life that your parents gifted you. I guarantee they would be saddened by what you have become. They probably would have wanted to see you live happily and make friends, not dedicate your life to whatever this is."
She stiffens at that remark. "The black dragon killed my father and has my mother. I need to kill it."
"You wish to avenge your father and rescue your mother. I get it. However when you meet your mother do you think she will be happy with how everything turned out? How will you respond when she asks you about your friends, your hobbies, your happiness? Then all you can reply is, I have nothing because I only wanted to slay the black dragon. I bet she would weep for you." I tell her I turn my attention to Loki. "Are you even properly teaching her or do you plan to just make her a weapon?"
Loki frowns. "What I do with my familia is none of your business boy." She says in a harsh tone.
"Leave, I no longer wish to entertain you." I bite out icily.
"Do you know who your speaking too?" Loki says coldly. Everyone in the room is now tense.
"Sister I believe you should leave." The voice of Hel calls out and enters the room.
Loki frowns. "Come on we are leaving, seems we are no longer welcome here."
The group files out of the room most with frowns or stoic looks.
Once they are out I can only sigh. "That escalated quickly. At this rate I'm going to end up enemies with every strong faction in the city because of my mouth." I rub my head with a sigh.
"Most gods frown upon mortals questioning them." Hel says sitting down on the bed.
"I should probably avoid interacting with them in the future. Honestly most of them repulse me anyway with their attitudes." I say with a frown.
"I do not repulse you do i?" Hel asks with worry.
"No you don't." I tell he patting her hand.
Hel smiles softly. "Lili come along we have to clean the house."
"Right!" Lili says stiffly.
They grab the bloody towels and rags from the floor and quickly clean up the slightly dried blood in the room before heading out to clean the rest of the room.
Since I have nothing to do now I decide to just go over the various items in my ring. I have a couple of things to look over and decide on such as new magics for my materia slots and a pair of guardian forces. I have quite a few to choose from.
However one of them gets my interest. "Knights of the Round?"
A summon materia from Cloud. It would summon out 13 powerful knights to fight with various weapons.
"Oof! 13 for the price of 1." That's a deal that even I cannot pass up! I'm poor i can't afford to be passing up bargains.
I pull out the red materia and as soon as it touches my hand. I find myself in a large gray room made of mist.
"You wish to become king?" A genderless voice sounds out.
"Yes." I call out the only obvious answer.
"Then a king you shall be. Like every king you shall need knights!"
