"What do you mean you're going to be off duty?" Brendan asked Lief with confusion.

"The Queen has arrived," Lief informed him with a strangely neutral expression.

"That doesn't…" Brendan began to protest, but then stopped as he heard the thumps and protests from just outside, "give us much warning," he finished rather dryly.

The Queen of Eks Corp strode into the compartment as though she owned it, which in a sense, she did. "Should I have warned you that I was coming?" she asked her youngest son with visible amusement.

"What are you even doing here?" Brendan asked rather sharply.

Calista's gaze raked each of her sons from head to toe before she answered. "You've reported an untraceable breach in Eks Corp Security which means one of two things."
