Capítulo 11: Chapter 11

Jin looked around the sea of trees surrounding him. He wasn't sure where he had arrived, but it was somewhere in the UK, as chosen from his background.

"This should do," Jin nodded to himself. The Hogwarts letters were sent via owl to the students, so his shouldn't have a problem reaching him. Being out in the wilderness would also allow him to see if he would turn into a werewolf or not during the full moon.

Jin could also practice his magic, mostly his Occlumency, without anyone bothering him. Though, he wouldn't mind finding some humans in the near future as his ghoul side was craving for some fresh meat. He had discussed that with Saya after informing her about his ghoul abilities, and she had a few things to say about it.

According to the pink-haired genius, who happened to know a lot about the Harry Potter world, Occlumency should let him keep his ghoul side at bay. In addition, Occlumency will also help sort out his memories, including the memories he absorbs from other people.

Saya also told him to look into Animagi, which could help him with his kakuja transformation. Though she wasn't sure if he will be able to become an Animagus due to Lycanthropy or his kakuja. She didn't know how the curse will affect him and if werewolves could become Animagi. Still, it wouldn't hurt to at least look into it.

Jin explored the forest he found himself in until he stumbled upon a large body of water. The place looked good enough, so he got to work. Using his kagune, Jin cut down a few trees and shaped the wood into planks. He gathered inner bark from a few others and shaped the fibers into ropes.

A few hours of hard work later, Jin had a small wooden cottage for himself. It only had a bed, which he made from a larger piece of wood and placed grass on it. It wasn't the most comfortable of things, but it would do for the time being.

Using some of the rope and a few larger branches, Jin made a couple drying racks. Underneath them, he placed a few of the larger rocks he found in the forest.

Lastly, Jin made himself a few wooden tools by carving wood with his kagune. One of them was a large pot in which he planned to cook stew using heated rocks.

With that out of the way, Jin's focus turned to the woods. It was time to catch some game. With his enhanced senses, it didn't take him long to find a group of deers. Their animal instincts warned them to flee far away, but he was on them in a second, impaling them with his tentacles.

One of the deers was quickly consumed on the spot as he couldn't resist, but he brought the other two back to his hut. After cutting off their heads, Jin hung them on a nearby tree to bleed them out during the night. In the morning, he will skin the deers and start drying their meat.

Jin entered his hut and took out his Occlumency guide from his Mokeskin pouch tied with a rope around his waist. It was already night by that point, but he was clearly able to see in the dark.

The following days after were peaceful in the forest. Jin made a few more drying racks and fended off any animals that thought the meat on them was free for all to eat. They were promptly consumed or butchered.

Jin also gathered some mushrooms he found in the forest. He didn't care if they were poisonous or not since he was immune to that. With a few more herbs he found there, he was able to make some stew for himself.

Every other day or so, Jin would go fishing by either using a makeshift fishing pole or by jumping inside the lake and hunting them down himself.

However, most of his time was spent studying magic. Jin made great progress with his mental shields thanks to his Natural Mind Artist Perk, but he also tried using magic in different ways. However, at most, he managed to lift a branch with his magic by focusing hard. It was a work in progress, but it was better than nothing.

His Metamorphmagus ability was fun to play around with. Though sometimes he tended to change his appearance without even thinking about it. Jin wasn't sure if this was normal or not, but he could increase his size and grow into his adult body. Maybe it was because his body was different than regular humans, having more mass due to the kagune covering his spine. Either way, it was beneficial for him as it gave him more options for the future.

Parseltongue, on the other hand, was hard to practice for Jin. He couldn't force himself to do it no matter how many times he tried. Saya speculated that he might need to practice speaking with snakes first, but he hadn't encountered any in the forest so far.

During that time, Jin kept an eye out on the moon cycle. The full moon came three weeks after he arrived in this world. Sitting on top of his hut, he stared at the white celestial body in the night sky and madly grinned when nothing happened to him.

"In the future, I will have to pick more of those Disadvantages. They are just free points for me," Jin cackled, glad that he chose the Gauntlet Scenario for his first world. Thanks to it, he got to keep all Perks and Items he purchased.

"I wonder if the girls will get the chance to pick Perks and Items if I bring them along? And will they get to keep them as well or not?" That was something Jin planned on testing as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he couldn't bring them with him in this world since there were too many Perks he wanted to purchase.

As Jin was staring at the moon, he suddenly heard the howling of wolves coming from the forest. Or perhaps those weren't wolves but something else.

"Well, well, well. I can't let some doggies pissing in my territory, now can I?" Jin said and jumped down from his hut. The animals had already learned that an alpha predator had settled in the forest, but it seemed there were new visitors this fine night. He had to teach those doggies a lesson.

Speeding towards the location the howls came from, Jin soon heard something running towards him. Soon enough, he saw a werewolf from this world. Or a group, a small pack of them.

"This is a disappointing sight," Jin wasn't impressed by what he saw. He had been expecting fearsome creatures with a massive and buffed physique, but what he got was skinny wolves that somewhat resembled humans. Seeing their appearance, he was glad Lycanthropy didn't affect him and that he didn't transform into one as well.

"Come, doggies," Jin taunted.

"RAARG!" With a snarl, the four werewolves swiftly charged at him.

They were fast, Jin had to give them that, but he was faster. His tail shot out of his back, thrusting against the ground and pushing him in the air. Swords formed around his arms as he swiped them at the incoming werewolves. Two of them were quickly killed on the spot, leaving only two more.

A werewolf was considered a mindless creature, but after seeing the two dead bodies of their brethren, they didn't dare rush at him again. In fact, they even started moving backward, but they didn't dare turn their backs to him.

They planned on fleeing after their animal instincts warned them of the predator that gazed down at them. Jin, however, wasn't going to allow his meal to run away. He might lose his title as the alpha predator of the forest if he did that.

In an instant, Jin's wings materialized behind him already crystallized. A volley of crystal shot out from them towards the two remaining werewolves before he chased after them. The projectiles pierced into their limbs, slowing them down and allowing him to catch them with ease. The two were promptly dispatched before dragged them back to the first he slew.

One satisfying meal later, Jin felt his senses become even sharper. He also felt something inside him grow and become more powerful. If Jin had to guess, that was his magic. And last but not least, he absorbed the memories of one of the werewolves, a wizard named Trevor Buckshot. With his Occlumency, he sorted them quickly, learning quite a bit from them.

"Hmm, so Voldemort was 'killed' six years ago. This means I'm three years before the plot starts," Jin mused as he walked through the forest. Shortly, he arrived at his destination, where he found a set of four robes and wands.

Jin stored them all in his pouch, only keeping a single wand out. This was Trevor's, which he had used all his life. He looked it over, turning it this way and that way, before finding a nearby rock. Jin swished the wand and intoned. "Wingardium Leviosa!"

The rock was levitated in the air, but Jin frowned. It was just a bit easier than him doing the same without a wand.

"Chestnut and Unicorn hair," Jin looked at the wand. "Doesn't seem to like me very much."

Jin stored it back into his pouch and tested the other three. Only one of them somewhat accepted him, and from Trevor's memories, he learned that it was made out of Aspen with a Dragon heartstring core and owned by one of his fellow werewolves.

"It's better than nothing," Jin was happy that he at least had one wand to work with. Even better was that he still didn't have his own personal one yet.

Also, having four additional wands could be beneficial for him in the future. Jin knew that there are spells that could find out what a wand has cast recently. Of course, he learned that from Trevor's memories.

Jin could use his additional wands in the future to cast dark magic with them while keeping his own nice and clean. Combined with his Metamorphmagus ability, which he didn't plan on revealing, he will easily get away scot-free from committing crimes in the future.

"I'm glad I picked the Gluttony Incarnate Perk," Jin said, walking back to his hut. Yeah, there was a drawback to it, but he was already working to fix it. Adaptability helped with that, and his Occlumency training could somewhat subdue his hunger. Or at least keep it in check.

Days continued to pass, and Jin trained his magic with his wands and newfound knowledge. His Genius Perk helped him understand and comprehend it even faster, and he was making great progress.

Jin also eagerly awaited the next full moon. Thanks to good old Trevor's memories, he knew that the forest he was occupying was frequently visited by werewolves since there were no settlements nearby. He couldn't wait for the doggies to arrive as that meant new wands for him and more potential memories to absorb.

"Ah, life is good for a glutton."

Four months passed since Jin's arrival when something out of the ordinary happened. On the outskirts of the forest, two men, or wizards appeared out of thin air.

"You have to work on your Apparition more, Shacklebolt. You make too much noise with it," growled an older man with grizzled grey hair whose face looked as though it was roughly carved from wood. A chunk of the man's nose was missing, and he was missing his right eye, which was replaced by an electric blue magical one that moved around wildly.

"Yes, Moody," Shacklebolt replied. He was a tall bald-headed man with black skin.

Both of them were dressed in black robes with the words 'Auror' stitched on them.

"Where is your wand?" Moody growled while holding his own. Kingsley Shacklebolt was an Auror trainee with the most potential out of the new recruits, but Moody still found him unsatisfiable.

Wizards these days were simply pampered too much, in Moody's opinion. Now that the last Dark Lord had fallen, everyone acted as if another one won't pop out in a few years. He knew better, though. As a veteran of two magical wars against Grindelwald and Voldemort, Alastor Moody knew that it was only a matter of time before another followed their footsteps.

"Got it," Kingsley said as his wand snapped into his hand with a flick of his wrist.

Moody growled once before shaking his head. "This is your mission to handle, trainee. If you do well, you will be assigned to the corps. If not, you're going back to training with the rest. Now lead the way!"

"It's not like it's something complicated. We just have to investigate the forest," Kingsley complained before entering the forest.

"Yes, a forest that is frequently used by werewolves during the full moon. One which they now refuse to come to!" Moody growled before firing a stinging hex at Kingsley.

"What was that for?" Shacklebolt jumped with one of his hands rubbing his backside.

"You're not paying attention to your surroundings! Constant vigilance, boy!" Moody stared him down with his one good eye.

"It's not like anything's going to attack us," Kingsley uttered, which resulted in him being hit with another stinging hex.

"What was that for?" He asked.

"I just told you the werewolves refused to come to this forest during the full moon! Are you deaf, boy? There's something out there that scares them. Hold your wand tight and be ready for anything!" Moody growled in annoyance.

This was supposed to be the best trainee, but Shacklebolt was acting like an amateur. Moody made his mind right there and then. Not only will he fail Shacklebolt, but he will also ask Amelia to be assigned as the academy trainer. If this was supposed to be the best trainee, then the wizarding world was doomed. He had to do something about that.

They continued their trek deeper inside the forest, with Shacklebolt leading the way. Moody was again disappointed as the trainee barely paid attention to his surroundings. Moody had his magical eye, but even he constantly looked around with his good one. Constant vigilance was his motto, after all.

As they passed under a taller tree, Moody had to resist the urge to sigh. It seemed Shacklebolt was doing everything he can to disappoint him. He was definitely asking Amelia to become a trainer after this.

Shortly, they arrived at the lake, seeing the wooden hut surrounded by drying racks. A rock campfire ring was right in front of the building, and there was a wooden pot next to it.

"It seems like someone lives here?" Shacklebolt said in a moment.

Moody couldn't resist anymore and slammed his palm against his forehead. The wizarding world was doomed. They had passed through cut down trees, numerous tracks, and harvested vegetation, but this was what took Shacklebolt to figure out someone was living here. He had to see a fucking wooden hut before he concluded that.
