Capítulo 4: Kimaran

The Young Musketeers arrive in Kimaran. What awaits them on the road to the musketeer Renāto?

— If we'd had muskets as well as rapiers, those thieves wouldn't have ambushed us like that! I practiced my aim a lot during the cadet academy.

— If my grandmother had been a grandfather, I'd have had two grandfathers. Muskets are only given to soldiers of Royal Guard rank.

— I know that very well, Lup. Until that day comes, and I get my own musket, I'm going to practice a lot with my rapier and work on my Dentō as much as possible. Only then will I be respected and considered a great musketeer, just like the 3 legendaries of Gurenaru I!

— Well — says Lup, looking up absent-mindedly — you can never dream too big, guri. But it'll be a long way to get there, so... How about we start by following Shirei-kan's order?

— Okay, let's go... To recap: We're in Kimaran, as Evos ordered. Now we just have to look for Master Renāto's house. You know where it is, right?

— Wait a minute — asks Lup, looking suspiciously at Telly — You don't know the address?

— I thought you knew...

The two of them pause in their walk and then do a synchronized facepalm.

— I can't believe we did this — Telly laments — We can't go back and waste time for information we should know, Lup. Otherwise, Evos will never entrust us with a mission again, and we'll be musketeers watching over the kingdom.

— Easy, guri. Luckily we're to the right of that region. After all, what's your mouth for? Let's ask for information in the pubs since Renāto is known throughout Araukaria.

— Right, whatever... I hope those who know him are friendly, because this time, there won't be any Kyapens to help us.

They enter a bar and look at a very diverse place: humans, animals, and some forms that look like neither one thing nor the other, or even both together. A bar that shows how diverse Kimaran can be. Music and songs from different languages echo in the background, at the same pace as drinks are handed around.

— Well... remember it was your idea, 4 eyes. Who in this furor: one, must know where Renāto is; And two, won't you want to rob us? Again... — whispered Telly.

— Let's see... — stammered Lup. He begins to look around at the mix of cultures gathered together — The centaur drinking on the table doesn't seem to know him. That chough lying there, I don't even know if it's alive. The parakeet I know, but he seems to have a short fuse. And that... Or was it he? She? What the hell should I call a fig tree that drinks a glass of Ambrosia so quickly?

— It looks like we'll find everything around here except the master.

— Where's your mosquito net confidence, guri? Wait a minute... Isn't that Kiribuza over there?

The two spotted an albino lion wearing sports shorts and a polo shirt made of cloth. The curious lion was drinking green tea, and next to his leg was a crystal racket that reflected what was around it and emanated a blue aura.

— Are you sure you want to go there? He's just been disgraced in the tournament. I can feel his killer instinct from here.

— Better than nothing, guri. I have my fears too, but we're under orders from the Commander. So it's our duty that's at stake.

— I hope he knows what that means...

The two approach the fighter cautiously. Then Kiribuza surprises the two young musketeers by speaking before they do

[Fubuki raion kirisame(Kiribuza)

 Chariku's Kyapen: Senzo

 Kai: Abaiguga]

— Don't make me lift my racket, I'm finishing my mate.

After speaking, he takes a sip of his tea, while the two musketeers immediately stop, knowing they couldn't go back any further.

— Mr. Kiribuza. It's an honor to come face to face with such a skilled fighter.

Lup nudges Telly with his elbow, convincing him to talk

— Ehr, of course. We're very honored that you represented our region so well in this last tournament.

— Really? — grumbles Kiribuza, turning to them with a serious look on his face — Do you really think I represented this region "well" in the tournament? Those monsters squeezed me like I was nothing!

He slams his mug of tea on the table, showing his fangs. Lup takes a step back, and Telly follows him.

— They showed me that being the race I am means nothing. There's no point in having this racket and not knowing how to use it on someone really strong.

— We're not trying to put you down, sir. — Lup replies — We know what you're capable of.

— We didn't come here looking for trouble. We just want to know where Kyapen Renāto lives.

Kiribuza puts down his mug, leans over the table, and looks suspiciously at the two of them.

— What do you want with that crazy hippie? He hasn't been right in the head since the accident with that Chimara... And that's 25 Kisetsu ago!

— Yes, we know that. His fights haven't been the same, because he doesn't seem to be giving his best. We're here under orders from Gurenaru II, and we need to send a direct message to the master.

— I suppose he's in the same place as always: Fosigua. — Kiribuza sighs — Since the accident, he's been training there every day, non-stop, and not just because of the tournament. Renāto still blames himself a lot and sees the isolation as penance for what happened, both to Kosuta and to his two fellow musketeers. I hope that one day he will forgive himself for what happened.

Lup and Telly look at each other, surprised by the lion's concern and relieved by the information.

— We understand the situation. Well, we won't take up any more of your time, Mr. Kiribuza. Thank you very much for informing us

— Have a good night, I hope you recover, sir.

Kiribuza says nothing, and gestures with his mug to the musketeers. As they leave the bar, Kiribuza looks at a blond feather in his hand.

— I hope we meet again one day, Renāto. And that we have a real fight.

And he takes another sip.

Stories from the past! What awaits this meeting with the great Kyapen Renāto?
