"You have a very nice place. Do you live in this house alone?" Xavier asked her as he sat on the kitchen counter while she prepared something that they could snack on.

"Yep. But I have a couple who stayed on the spare guess house not far from here." She pointed to a house just beyond the large tree from her backyard.

"You should not be alone. Besides, it is not safe for you, and it can also be lonely." Xavier refused the fruity juice she prepared and opted for a can of soda.

"I appreciate your concern, but I could take care of myself. By the way, I appreciate you taking the time to visit me." She wondered what brought the boy to her home. "But, do you need something in particular?" She suddenly remembered that she had already forgotten the gift. She was supposed to give him something for his birthday.
