Capítulo 154: The guardian of the dungeon.
Looking at the gate it seemed very odd that there would here. It was giving itself away as what is the point of hiding something if they show a big door. Pressing the door it was a behemoth of a gate. Not in what it was made of but what was coating it. There was a large amount of divine energy. Enough that Alexis didn't know if she was at all capable of breaking through it.
"Anyways we need to destroy the barrier. Based on the door we need a god to break in. I think it would be good to get Achilles as he is the new head of the forces." Putting her comms on she was going to contact headquarters. But then Catherine stopped it as she was excited about something.
"Hmmm...yes but let's see if us two can do it," Catherine said as she was looking at Nathan.
"Yeah how about letting us do it."
"But you two might not be able to break it. We just checked it out, and it seems to be something a god or goddess would have to breakthrough."
"Then we are going to find out if we can be gods won't we?" Catherine said.
"Wait...wait it might be dangerous what if there is a mechanism of some kind that will fire back at you guys."
"Yeah you kids are still green let professionals do it." But then Morgan stopped them.
"And as seniors, let us juniors test ourselves. We can only grow from the experience."
"Yes, and we going to test it out." Catherine then got her gist ready. "Alright back away." Nathan then got ready as well as they rolled up their sleeves. Focusing energy into their fist they then did a striking pose as they were mirroring each other.
"Haa!!!" Throwing a strike a blast came out of their fist as they somehow created a giant energy fist right at the door. Alexis and Troy were thinking that they were going to fail for sure. Yet as they saw powers were colliding, the door seemed to be moving. It looked like it was slowly being pushed back.
"Are..are they really new recruits?"
"I wonder that as well."
"All you need to open a door…." Catherine said as she planned it so Nathan would say the last few words.
"Is with a knock!!!" Bammm with their combined attack the door then soon was overpowered as the large door was soon forced open. Like a domino, the door fell down.
"Yahoooo!!!' The two then felt like they accomplished something amazing.
"We were able to open the door without destroying it!!!"
"Yes that is what we call control." Giving a thumbs up together, Alexis and Troy were still confused.
"I hope they would at least not let their guard down?"
"Yeah they should be at least be aware of that?" The two were looking as there was light on the other side. It was a huge room for some reason with a huge monster. Giving chills to the two they obviously knew this was no illusion. In fact they were sweating knowing that they would be the ones having to face it.
"ROAR!!!!!!!!" As though a fierce gust of wind came bursting through the door, it showed how powerful the roar was. Thump thump thump walking closer and closer than they soon saw the monster that appeared through the door. The light shone as the monster got bigger and bigger with every footstep. Fear was already appearing from both Troy and Alexis as they got their stances ready.
"That can't be a monster this size right." Alexis was rubbing her eyes for confirmation.
"Well, it might be a record for the biggest land monster." Looking they saw the monster up close.
"ROARRRRRRRRRR!!!!" Showing its head, it had that of a human with a body of a lion. Wings of a eagle as it spread it might.
"That's a sphinx!!!! But what is such a creature that size doing here?!!" Alexis screamed with serious surprise. Even the last war she had never seen it.
"Everyone get back," Troy said as he was looking. Just to see that the four that were originally in the front disappear.
"Way ahead of you!!" Catherine shouted from the back. Hearing they then turned as they were the furthest back from everyone.
"How did….?"
"Don't worry we got your back. Good Luck!!!" Rory screamed as though it wasn't reassuring but still it was good showing they did show support Even if they were hundreds of yards back. The two then look at the sphinx still awe by it huge size. Expanding its wings it looks at the two with its deadly glare. It was 15 meters tall as it was a large monster. Alexis was unsure if she was going to win this but she knew she had to try.
"You ready?" Troy asks as he then activates something that soon created his armor and weapons. Alexis then nodded as well as she activated her armor.
"As ready I will ever be." She then looked at her bag as she was then untying the knot. "Time to go all out." releasing the bag something then glowed as it soon came out.
"Do you think she will be okay?" Rory asked as she was pouring tea for Catherine. Though they all did say that the two would fight the Sphinx that was rare to face. Yet Catherine was not even thinking about it in the least.
"Don't worry the sphinx compared to the other monsters are much slower and very straightforward. Unlike the hydras with multiple growing heads, Minotaurs and their insane one-on-one combats, Chimera and dragon who could breathe fire. The sphinx just has just size and an insane amount of defense." Looking at the sphinx, Alexis and Troy were already running towards the sphinx. Although the fight seems like an impossible fight. It was however not as the sphinx was just trying to stomp them left and right. Yet no matter what it tried to do it was very limited in its action.
"Hmmm…but still the defense of it will be a problem. Do you think that Alexis with her weak energy level breakthrough that?" Morgan asked as she was very curious. Looking at the fight Alexis was showing more agility than before as compared to the battle with the Harpies she wasn't as swift. Well, that was the fault of the opponent. But seeing her move she was showing confidence that wasn't even seen before.
"Don't worry about that!!!" Nathan said with a big smile. Everyone then looked at her as they were curious. But Nathan then pointed at the bag she was carrying. "Though she has weak levels even after her training. She looks to have been prepared for it!!!"
"Hmm looks like my eyes didn't deceive me at all." Looking at the bag carefully, Catherine was rather happy about what she saw. "Though I knew that she was new when I first saw her. I knew that for sure she had a lot of potential."
"Well looks like we will have a show won't we!!" Morgan said in excitement as she was starting to get more attentive in the fight. For Rory she was relieved in a way as she was thinking would she have to fight. But after noticing the battle seemed to be good, she sit back as he went back to pouring tea for everyone. It seems like it was a nice day. Though she thought that they were in a dungeon with not a sun in sight.
Stomp!!! The sound of The sphinx stomping on the ground as the two distance themselves. Moving from one place to the next there were a lot of large holes being created. The sphinx was getting frustrated as she couldn't even target two small humans. What was annoying was Troy was constantly causing cuts on the leg in the background Though it hasn't damaged her yet, she was getting several small cuts here and there.
Flapping its wings the sphinx tried to get up to avoid them, but really she couldn't as she just realized that she just hit the ceiling. Forgetting that she descended very quickly as she fell down causing a huge crater. This gives Troy an opportunity as he then went on to jump insanely high up as he then with all his might tried to pierce the head of the monster.
"Roar!!!!!!" Yelling in pain she instantly got her power to try to swipe him away. It looks like Troy was going to get swatted away. But in an unnatural way of moving, he flew backward despite putting all his energy into the sword.
"Ha thanks for the assist. Thought I had her." Thanking Alexis as she then was moving her fingers after a closer look you could tell that she was using strings. During the fight Alexis got the wires that were strapped onto Troy's back. This happens every time they fight as Alexis had already put a wire on him just in case something were to have happened.
"Looks like despite putting everything you got you only graze her," Alexis noted as the sphinx didn't look all too concerned about the damage.
"Hmm looks like we are going to need a few more blows to the head. But it's going to be hard to get up there without constantly getting caught wide open." Troy was thinking that he could but still, the speed that took him to get to the top was too long despite going against this sphinx that was slow.
"Then maybe we have to get her to come down," Alexis noted as she then pointed at the crater they were on. Troy was then confused but then realise it for a moment.
"Ah I see. But even if we going to do that. You know that I'm going to need some backup in power." Looking at the bag. Alexis then nodded as she was prepared.
