One month... this was the amount of time Chiron agreed to give him for training in Camp Half-Blood. Originally Chiron wanted him to go as soon as possible, but after much refusing and arguing and stalling saying he hadn't learned all he'd need to know, Argen was given one and one-half months to train at camp half-blood.
So his first goal for the month had been learning what else he could do with these strange abilities he had. With this Mindset, he started training his most obvious one, one he'd known about for years.
"You never miss... why still train?" Sam asked at 3 am as they were in the woods. He had permission from Chiron to not have a bedtime, night was the only time he could train fully without needing to worry about someone catching him and asking too many questions.
Argen didn't know why, but every time he thought about the quest he felt uneasy. Chiron shared the same sentiment and told him to keep it a secret until he leaves, not only for his morale but also to keep Annabeth from asking to go along.
"I need to train... I've only told you that I'm training for a quest...I still haven't thought of who to bring... I don't even know if I want to go on this quest..." Argen sighed as he unslung his bow before throwing 9 quivers full of arrows to the side.
Sam also sighed as he threw a bag full of different sized targets and threw one up in the air as, faster than Sam could tell, Argen had drawn his bow and an arrow and released it, hitting the target and sticking it to a tree.
This went on for one week, every night after a full day of eventful training and activity that was usually random, Argen brought Sam to shoot targets, it became obvious that he'd already reached the point of mastery for archery. Argen had only wanted to get a feel for the bow, a weapon he never used until that day at the archery range.
after that week, Argen then tried to figure out the weird silver line power, something he'd barely found out about recently, and had also caught his attention. This hadn't been so hard, as he tried it the same way he'd felt when finding the location of his quest, finding something.
He just had someone hide something and tried to find it. Sure enough, the silver lines led him all the way to the object, making him certain this was an ability for tracking things, something that could prove useful if he used it correctly.
He'd trained it for another 2 weeks, getting the feel, and eventually able to find small items with his eyes closed, following the 'Feel' of the lines that showed the way.
His month ended with the silver energy training, something he had no idea how to train, and so 2 weeks were wasted on him shooting off arrows and having the energy blow up the targets and the arrows. He tried as best as he could to control the energy to be smaller and less damaging, or more damaging, but it never worked, it was always set to the same, causing him to give up with only two weeks left before he went on his quest.
"I have seen your diligence, and applaud your efforts... now I have found two candidates for your quest mates... one you already know... and after a small explanation has already agreed to it... quite eagerly I might add... the other... you'll need to convince yourself... though it shouldn't be too hard to convince your own cabin mate..." Chiron told Argen as two weeks were left to train. Over the month he'd become average at combat, not being beaten as quickly when fighting everyone, and even beating a few of the less strength based demigods, as well as the newer ones, all in all, he was still bad at fighting. Though he knew given a bow he could beat them all... and he never truly was beaten either... after the beatings he'd been given, he could take hits better, something that annoyed Clarisse a great deal, making her use even more power during their light spars, even breaking a rib at one point. Luckily there had been Ambrosia to heal it up, though Argen hadn't really cared about it.
The other quest mate, or "The Child Of Magic" Was Megan. she'd been his first choice anyway, probably what influenced Chiron to pick her.
Megan was still one of his only friends that he hung out with regularly. He hung out with Luke, and the Stoll brothers, along with lee fletcher at times, but Sam, Annabeth, and Megan were the only ones he ever hung out with regularly, on a daily basis.
This didn't matter though as the candidate that Chiron had pointed him towards was actually Lee, someone who he hung out with sometimes, and got along with of course. "Hey Lee... can I ask you a favor?" Argen asked awkwardly as Megan watched with a palm on her forehead at his weird way of speaking to others.
It was like he was always tense, or scared of something when talking to others, she had gotten used to it but that didn't mean she didn't see it as any less weird.
After a month of friendship, she really only knew what he had told her. His parent, something Argen had used because he didn't want to reveal that his godly parent was supposed to be his mother, had hit him before, causing him to be slightly introverted.
This was the extent of her knowledge. This made her share less about herself... or rather how she usually felt... and why she was mainly ignored at camp, something Argen didn't know the reason of...
"Sure what's up man?" Lee asked as he swiped his wet sweaty hair to the side, due to just finishing archery practice along with a game of Volleyball.
"See... I was wondering if..." Argen stopped talking as he was about to ask, feeling his heart pounding in his chest. 'When was the last time I asked for something?' Argen thought as the pounding grew louder and his vision started to go blurry...
