After being transferred from the delivery room to the ward, Jiang He lay in bed staring at the ceiling, her gaze fixed.
"Feeling okay?"
Xu Qing, tall and looming, squatted by her side, carefully watching her. Jiang He's hair, dampened by sweat, appeared a bit messy. He wanted to help smooth it out but, hesitating with hands rubbing together, dared not to touch.
Jiang He did not respond immediately, but after a moment as if just catching up, she slightly shook her head and whispered softly, "Not too bad."
A moment later, she exhaled, and finally, her gaze shifted, "Feels like I've unloaded a burden."
"That analogy of yours..." Xu Qing's eyes moved away from her face, trailing over the blanket, where her once huge belly had disappeared.
It seemed there was no mistake in that.
