Capítulo 8: Travel

Traveling through forest Zeph headed toward the city of prominence known as Gephyr. It is one of the recently developed cities being groomed as a trading hub for merchants.

Its scale is enormous compared to other nearby cities. Zeph was not clueless about the map of the world because there was a geography class include in his home tuition by Grandfather.

The human flourishing area in the present time is divided into four countries build in remembrance of four great heroes who protected humans during the 2nd demon-human war.

These four countries were named after 4 divine beasts, Vermillion bird, dragon, tiger, and turtle. Thus named Phoenix, Drake, Uncia, and Chelon.

Zeph with his Grandfather lived in Drake country built by Legendary warrior Konnor and his descendants.

Capital of the country is called dragon city also known as the nest of Drake. It will not be incorrect to say that Gephyr is one of the top 3 cities of the nation. Other cities were present before the time of Drake nation but this city is newly built some 500 years old by Konnor personally in the valley surrounded by the mountain range.

Zeph because never went far away from his home was enjoying the leisure travel.

He rested at treetops at night and during the day continued his practice with the sword. As traveling He reached the small town in the way called boon town. He decided to eat anything other than meat in the tavern for a change of taste.

He entered the tavern and was surprised to see almost empty tables. He casually sat at the front table and called in a waitress. She came quickly to receive the order and politely presented the menu.

He after some deliberation ordered mushroom curry and rice. While he was waiting for the order to be brought he casually took in the scenery of the garden outside the tavern.

A couple of young boy and girl entered the tavern and faced directly to Zeph. Zeph who was busy admiring nature didn't notice them first but when they stood in front of him he noticed them. While due to being raised alone he was not accustomed to talking with other persons.

So he just gave them a straight poker face.

Seeing him act like this girl got incredibly angry and blurted out,

"Mr. can you please change your table?"

Zeph directly asked, "why?"

The boy who was standing beside her quickly hold the arm of the girl to stop her from replying and said,

"Because it's her birthday so she wants to eat in Tavern. So you see I ts her usual table and she feels comfortable here."

'Well, reasonable maybe they want to celebrate at their usual table 'thought Zeph as he was going to leave the table.

The girl shouted, "What are you waiting for I will give you as money as you want just name the price to leave the table quickly"

The boy tried to stop her but she instead said to him "why are you scared Tony, He can take any price for a table he wants"

Zeph quickly changed his mind and without changing his expression he asked the boy "so it is request?"

He nodded.

"Then request denied"

He said casually and closed his eyes for a rest. The girl was so angry that at any moment she will go for the jug on the table and smash it on his head.

She replied

"Do you know who my father is? He can teach a lesson to hoodlum like you easily"

"Enough!" snapped boy "can you please don't make any more scene here"

He angrily left the tavern. The girl totally shocked went quickly after him but not before giving a death stare to Zeph.

Finally, the order arrived this small interlude did not ruin the mood of eating of Zeph. He slowly savored the dish after finishing it he left the tavern and went forward towards the way of the city.

After twenty miles, he found himself traveling behind a merchant cavern moving the same way. It seemed to be carrying quite heavy materials as the beast carrying load was dual Horned bison which is famous for its load-bearing capabilities.

As he was traveling with cavern, soon a man approached at full speed on a horse from another side. Clearly, he was in hurry.

He yelled at top of his lungs "stop the cavern, beast horde in front" The news given by scout created hubbub between merchants.

They seem to be quite scared of meeting such calamity in their travel. Zeph was Clearly intrigued by the presence of the beast horde so he began to move in that direction. He quietly slipped away from the racket and sprinted toward the sound of hordes coming from the distance.

As he approached he found that a full horde of beast containing bulls, bears, rhinos, etc is running toward the center of the forest. As he was watching the scene he found a child on the back of one of the rampaging bulls. He was quite scared as he closely-held himself tight to the body of the beast.

Zeph quickly vanished from the area and reached him and picked him up and came back to the clear side of the horde.

Boy was so scared thinking that he lost grip of the beast, he was trembling. Zeph awkwardly tried to assure him and finally managed to calm him.

"I am Junce" he meekly replied

"what were you doing there?"

At the mention of the topic, he began to cry. after some time of crying he finally forced out words,

"uncle.....sniff..save my ..sniff friend, we were gathering fruits when suddenly....beast came and she .....sniff....got carried away by them "

"she got struck between running beasts and got carried away like you were hanging on a bull "

He nodded.

Zeph noticed the still running horde and determined their direction. He first wanted to go alone but after some deliberation decided to take him with him.

"hey we will ...Ummm follow the horde and see where they took your sister and bring her back, ok "

"ok," said Junce" but she is my friend not sister "

"Yea yea same thing, "Zeph said and lifted the 8-year-old child over his shoulder.

In his thoughts, he even forgot to ask about an important question, but he finally remembered when they were nearly running halfway inside the forest.

As he was running at a moderate speed to not scare a child.

He asked

" Are you two.... friends were alone, with no adult with you"

"No, we have a big sister with us "

'sh!t' thought Zeph "ok so where did she go? "

"She said don't go anywhere I am going to find some flowers and then beast came"

Due to the free ride provided by Zeph child seem to be less scared now.

Zeph soon reached the vast river where horde was crossing the river. He quickly scaled the tree and looked toward running beasts to find a child. Junce spotted her first.

"There ...uncle, there !" he pointed toward a huge group of buffalo, and in between them, a buffalo sitting there had a small girl lying over it. Seems like she fainted due to fear but terrible instinct caused her to hold the beast even after fainting.

Buffalo hide is so thick, it didn't even realize something over it or maybe it realized but didn't care.

Next was an easy task for him, he placed the child back on the tree and used his elemental power to dash toward buffalo. Before it can realize and try to run Zeph picked the girl and was on his way back. He lifted both children and sprinted toward the location he found the boy.

He met a girl running towards his way mid-route and realized she may be his sister so he slowed down but instead of slowing down girl even accelerated. He found out something weird about the expression on her face, oh that is the rage? anger?

She lifted her hands and channeled whole water energy into spikes and threw accurately towards his vital points.

He hurriedly dodged spikes along with children. She was quite shocked to see speed. In her eyes, He just blurred past those spikes.

The first time Zeph found how effective his speed is among his own peers.

He noticed that girl's eye failed to keep track of him.

"Stop " yelled both Zeph and Junce at the same time.

She stopped and then listened to the whole story by Junce.

She got embarrassed for her rash behavior and thus apologized profusely. Zeph was not a man of formalities, he quickly said his goodbye and went on his way.

The weird thing is that the little girl remained unconscious throughout the whole episode.

Well it is just filler chapter and purpose it has here is to show Zeph's character and traits.He is well introvert but can feel at home with more familiar person.He is reasonable and well offer help to needy person.And he doesn't believe in formalities,he didn't even asked for girls name and even didn't bother to remember Junce's name........well support the work and continue with me for next chapters(spoiler - new main character coming next)
