Capítulo 22: (Ch 22)Envy II

Krus, son of the current reigning queen of dark elves, known for her expertise in magic and understanding of darkness beyond what most could deign to comprehend, was a little shocked at what this half-lizard had just said.

Most demons even if only half-blooded would be easily provoked at a young age, same with dragons so Krus had planned to provoke and then embarrass what he considered was his rival. Yet his comment had earned a simple response, strange as it sounded, that was filled with the confidence befitting a ruler as if he were looking down upon a peasant.

In Krus's eyes, Faith saw him as no more than an annoyance not worth his attention or time from his lack of provocation.

In reality, this was again a little far off.

'I wonder if this lady knows how to use shadow magic?' - Faith pondered as he still repeatedly tried to struggle his way over to his mother's rival without concern from the scorning looks he received.

Most came from the other exodus family members who couldn't believe their crown prince was acting in such a manner, while the other came from most of the adult dark elves who cursed the child out for being blessed with such a hold over shadow magic.

Envy was evident in their eyes but also a sense of longing to be educated about his ability as well. Dark elves praised darkness magic as the superior form and their society was built around it even to the point where one's social standing could be dictated by their use of darkness magic.

Their rulers weren't the purest of blood like demons but rather the most talented in darkness magic. As such even with their natural affinity towards envy they still admitted that the demon prince deserved their respect after he displayed shadow magic.

"It seems your son quite the magician, clearly taking after his father I guess" - Dirias stated, a little fear in her voice as she gazed at the little monster of a thing resting itself on her rival's lap, clawing itself towards her like an animal.

'There's no way a demon that young could have anything genuine about him in the slightest. This little monster has his mother twirled around his finger' - she thought after noticing the pure ecstasy on Eshir's face when she heard her little devil say he loved her so openly.

'I guess the rumors are right, the little devils a master manipulator by nature. I'll have to be careful around this one… otherwise I might just lose my kingdom' - Dirias thought.

This little demon prince reminded her of a saying or a quote that had been passed down for quite some time around the races of dark-light and light-dark.

"Smiling demons are the most dangerous of them all"

Dirias had learned in her life that caution was essential when preparing for something you didn't have the full picture of so she would put it into motion with this one.

"Well yes he's pretty spectacular when it comes to magic but his swordplay doesn't lag very far behind. He's also quite popular with the ladies, I'll have you know" - Eshir replied, though the last part was questionable at best.

'SINCE WHEN?!?!' - Faith asked himself looking up at his mother with a questioning gaze.

He didn't remember at any point in time being even remotely popular with anyone, let alone the opposite sex.

'Fuck, besides you, sapphire, Servants and that one chick with the silver hair I don't think I've talked to any girl since I got here. WHERE ARE YOU PULLING THIS INFORMATION FROM?!?' - in response to his monologue Eshir gave a little chuckle at his face, flushed red with embarrassment before going back to her rival.

"Well, I suppose that makes some sense at least looking at him. Anyway, before we get the proceeding underway why don't we introduce Krus and Faith to each other. It's always good for heirs to know who their peers are" - Dirias suggest, with ulterior motive riddled in her words.

'Krus huh? Cool name' - Faith thought before jumping off his mother's lap, without restriction this time to meet the Krus in question

He didn't really need his mother's approval as he approached his dark elven counterpart who was already out of his seat to insult the demon prince. When they came face to face the difference between them was night and day.

Krus wasn't frail but with the build of an average mage, a 7-year-old at that, he didn't have much muscle to speak of. Tied with his height that was actually taller than average for elves he looked stick-like and his soft features didn't help that impression much, nor his slightly longer hair.

Faith on the other hand even though younger than Krus was taller and more filled out in his frame. The boy was still lean but compared to Krus it was a big difference. Not to mention in terms of looks and presence Krus was simply outmatched.

To be fair Krus was quite a handsome, or rather cute, boy for his age. The type that would turn a lot of heads when walking through a crowd.

However being compared to dragons, creatures shaped by will and desires instead of physical normality, it wasn't fair at all.

Faith could be mistaken for an angel if you put a pair of human-sized dove wings on him and ignored his red iris with purple streaks. His desire to want to befriend and comfort everyone around him morphed his presence into one of warmth that welcomed all, like a benevolent god. Yet his pride in his mother and father still gave him an air reverence.

"Greeting, Krus. I am Faith exodus, the current crown prince of demon and dragon kind. I hope that we can get along and become friends. I'd love to discuss darkness magic with you whenever we are given the chance" - Faith said taking the lead, offering his hand and being polite as possible from the greeting his father taught him.

What Alzeor had failed to mention was the level of superiority openly announcing his title gave him.

It wasn't just that forcing Krus to do a double-take before replying though. Even if unaware of it Faith's body radiated an aura of shadow magic after attaining his Dragon heart that was quite imposing on anyone sharing his element, as Krus did.

'Is he doing it intentionally to make me feel beneath him? The greeting sounded so friendly though… I guess Faith's just a wolf in sheep's clothing like mom said. Tread carefully Krus, tread carefully' - Krus thought to himself, trying his best to match Faith's confidence and magical presence.

"Good to meet you, Faith, I'm Krus Depths, son of Dirias Depths and the future ruler of the esteemed dark elves. I'd love to take you up on you're offering, I feel we could both learn something from each other and further our understanding of the mightiest element" - he replied, confidence filling his every word.

Krus wasn't dumb enough to not notice that his earlier provocation had gotten him nowhere nor the gazes of reverence some of his kin were starting to give Faith. Dragons were generally one of the main targets for disdain among the envious race of Dark elves but a darkness element dragon and a deviant one at that was a different story.

As stated earlier the one thing that ruled dark elves over everything else was their love of magic and even further darkness magic. It surpassed their envy and to finally find someone who could make a real solid breakthrough in their element as dragons were known for was a godsend.

It wasn't a coincidence that some of the strongest spells among the other elements had draconic tacked onto their names. Dragons, especially older true full-blooded ones would sometimes share pieces of information no longer useful to them and cause a breakthrough among the other races. Especially humans and dwarves who were known for their ingenuity when it came to magic even if they lacked a high affinity for it.

The waves the knowledge made as they would sometimes find things even the dragons who shared it didn't notice because of their nature of magic use being so different, leading to a kind of symbiotic relationship.

'If Faith is even half the dragon he should be then Dark elves are bound to thrive in the coming years even if it's limited to the higher talented individuals. It's no wonder Venos was considering asking Faith to take him as an apprentice if he already has this level of control over shadow magic' - Krus thought, remembering the old rambling fool who was also one of the only currently living confirmed shadow magicians.

"Alright Dirias now that we have the introduction finished I'm sure you wouldn't mind us moving along" - Eshir said standing up getting close to the speaker like magic-tool set in front of them to address their subjects

"As our lovely host, I'm sure you can do the honors right? This kind of thing isn't my style anyway" - Dirias replied uninterested in the extra work it entailed.

Just before his mother started the proceeding however Faith felt a hateful gaze coming towards him filled with bounds of malicious intent.

'My shadow sense is tingling' - he thought, being his normal amazing demon prince next door self.
