Capítulo 16: (Ch 16)Dream

Faith continued to train without ever letting the determination flicker. But he also resolved that power wouldn't just solve his problems, he knew that now since his duel with Sira. Power didn't break down the wall that divided them, it simply built an even bigger one.

Faith could understand why now that he'd put more thought into it. An ant wouldn't feel they had the right to be comfortable and casual around a dragon, no matter how hospitable the dragon was. Thus began Faith's great brainstorm for ways to overcome this hurdle. He came to the answer pretty quick, but had absolutely no idea how to execute it.

'I need to go incognito, as someone relatable and simple. Being Faith exodus is defiantly a big red flag for most due to the prejudice and revere. Anyone from the dark-light races will just revere me, while the light-dark species will simply hold mass prejudice against me for being a monster. Hahaha and here I was thinking I'd just be able to stroll into the human kingdom and make friends'

Faith realised how naive his previous ideas of companionship had been. Now matter how he saw it as long as he was Faith exodus his relationship circle would be limited to his parents, and sapphire who was slowly getting more casual. But there was still that inescapable wall of status that divided them. Maybe in other races it would be less jarring, but in a society where linage and power dictated your status Faith was simply far to high above her.

His fifth birthday was Fast approaching and this time due to both the library and spending constant time with Eshir, Faith was aware of what it would consist of.

On a child from the races of 'Sin' or dark-light's fifth birthday it was Ritual and ceremony for them to venture into the Forest of Familiars. Apparently Exodus himself had ventured in at the age of five and came out with a dragon as a Familiar that Aided him in his rise to power. So children were sent in from ages 5-10 to contract a familiar into a blood seal, which bonded both spirit and mana between the two of them.

Saying this though most children didn't actually get a familiar from the forest, and simply came out in either tears or frustration. No one since Exodus had actually managed to contract a familiar at five, hell Faith had heard that his mother had only managed on her 9th birthday supposedly obtaining a sparrow as a familiar.

Faith knew though that a familiar should never be judged by their appearance as they were a race of spirits. They all had unique and chilling powers that generally never even related to their physical appearance making them all very terrifying.

Yet actually Venturing into the forest wasn't dangerous, apparently a Rexel which was a mix of both a fox and a wolf guarded fiercely all those under the age of 11 that entered the forest. It was part of a pact with Exodus himself after he contracted the last guardian.

This ceremony was more about status then actual power since it judged if even familiars thought you were worthy of them. If you didn't get one it wouldn't negatively impact you since it was so rare, but if you did it'd make you a shining Star in the eyes of others.

Faith heard from his mother that because he was to be the future ruler, all children that met the required age would be given another chance to enter the forest on his birthday as a show of power for both himself and the Exodus family.

Eshir herself was actually quite worried about Faith entering the forest. The girl he'd beaten in a duel previous Sira Exodus was attending but so was her older sister who was just under the age limit. Eshirs couldn't protect Faith even if she wanted to inside the forest and if that girl really wanted the throne now was the best time to take Faith out of the picture.

Sure one on one they might not be able to beat him, but all the children of the exodus line under 10 would be attending, so if they ganged up on him they could very easily win. At least Eshir thought so. But Faith was very reluctant to give up this chance for a cute pet, and Eshir couldn't breach ceremony just because of her worry.

Though she was still worried about those morons that resided in her castle.

Eshir could understand how prejudice could lead them to resent Faith. What she couldn't understand was that they clearly didn't realise how suicidal going after Faith was. Not only was he her son but he was also Alzeor's, who had been nicknamed in his youth as a living calamity. Since then he'd calmed down due to his duties as a ruler quite like herself, but still.

Why would her family attack the sole child of two of the most ruthless and powerful being in the land.

Faith however was jovial as always at the idea of getting a cute pet on his adventure for friendship, maybe it would be his first friend? He thought optimist about his chances.

However the night before his birthday after he'd finished dinner with his mother and Ervis who'd joined them due to him being a uncle like figure to Faith, something strange happened.

Faith often times had dreams, where he'd go on adventures or save princess's and get married but this one was starkly different.

Faith felt as if he was a spectator and the dream didn't carry the usual groggy like state that dreams were meant to have. The sight beneath Faith couldn't really be described as anything but one word.

It was a battlefield, a barren wasteland like battlefield. The entirety of it was dyed in blood and desert like tones as the mountain ridges entrenched it in. Faith watched as what looked like millions upon millions of people ranging form Every race of Dark-light and Light-dark did battle against the abandoned.

Faith had read about the abandoned in books, they were seen as an absolute evil in this world, abandoned by both light and dark. Monsters. They were monsters, ranging from goblins to trolls, ogres to orc. They didn't care for conversation or reason, they simply devoured and plagued the land.

There also seemed to be distorted figures among their ranks that outnumbered all the other races combined. They appeared as leaders in the army of abandoned that seemed to give reason to their actions.

The army fought each other with ferocity that made Faith tremble as he watched on. Strange thing was Faith could actually pick out people he knew, like Ervis, or Alzeor. Even Eshir was there tearing through abandoned like they were paper and leading the demons at her side.

The battle capacity of Faith's side seemed to be far higher then the average of the abandoned who were limited to only world and nature type magic, unable produce those who could wield light or dark magic. Yet the numbers on their side so heavily outweighed Faith's that they were slowly pushed back down their side of the entrenchment.

Face's of worry were clearly seen on the faces of his side, as he watched even Alzeor be forced to retreat. It looked bad, very bad. The distorted figures leading the army of abandoned seemed to notice they were gaining ground Commanding the mages in their ranks to fire even more heavily.

Strange as it was Faith could clearly see potions and even advanced weaponry on the more powerful of the Abandoned. But that shouldn't be possible. The abandoned had no reason, they were beings that acted on instinct alone, so how.

Faith reckoned that the distorted figures whoever they were had something to do with it.

"FALL BACK!!" - shouted the many as they fell back.

Yet the abandoned simply pushed forward, cornering them as more and more of Faith's people were slaughtered.

Faith couldn't do anything to help though. He was simply a spectator, hell he wasn't even sure if this was even remotely real anymore. The one sided massacre was starting, and the fact that the dragons among them weren't casting spacial magic meant the the enemy had sealed the space.

That dark rage inside Faith that he hadn't been aware of until the training room took over like before. The emptiness from his previous life swirled inside him, threatening to take over as it once had. Emotions he wasn't even aware having of started appearing over and over in his mind, as he watched both his people and his pride be torn in two.

What right did they have too take what was his?

What right did these worms have to touch what he held dear?

They were nothing but insects ready to be crushed beneath his boot, yet they rebelled against him?

Faith oh so badly wanted to show these sickening abandoned monsters what a mistake it had been to try and take what was his. At this rate even his mother, father and even teacher all people he cared deeply for would be taken from him.

He couldn't allow that.

He wouldn't allow that.

Anyone of these snivelling shits that tried would soon realise, they weren't the only monsters in this world.

Nor were they the worst.

The pride of the dragon was merged with the wrath of the demon, giving birth to these terrible emotions and thoughts, yet the emptiness inside him didn't swallow them as it had before. It fuelled them even more, giving birth to unyielding rage that Faith never even knew he could feel.

'MAKE THEM SUFFER'

'SHOW THEM FEAR'

'THEY WANTED A MASSACRE, GIVE THEM ONE'

Faith's mind was constantly replaying these thoughts over and over again as that raged burned hotter and hotter.

Faith couldn't actually do anything, he knew it was just a dream, but even then this wasn't acceptable. He wouldn't allow those he cared about to be taken from him when he'd just got them, dream or not.

Anyone that tried could be swallowed whole by that emptiness inside him.

Almost as if to respond to his call, to his rage, The Skys themselves seemed to tear open as the spacial seal was forcibly severed. Bringing fourth a massive blast of sound and halting all those beneath the sky, which had a gaping hole in it.

The race's on Faith's side seemed to see it first, responding in cheers of reverence and battle cries far more vibrant then before. The abandoned however and their masters looked on in horror, as the sky itself had been torn open.

From the tear a ink black pillar descended onto the battlefield, devouring all the abandoned below as it came in between both armies that were now at a stand still.

Faith had no idea who caused that black pillar, but honestly that didn't matter to him. The pure terror evident on the abandoned face's as all their instincts told them to run as far as they could was what mattered to Faith.

He was almost bubbling with excitement at the anticipation of what would follow, although he was pretty sure he could guess by the looks.

It would be a massacre, a very, very one sided one.
