The clearing of throat brought Alaina out of her thoughts about his looks, due to which immediately Alaina felt her face heating up registering to her mind that she was actually staring at him like a creep. What is wrong with her?

For a second of looking around and not meeting his eyes Alaina looked up to see him gazing into the fire with his back to her and Alaina takes a few steps in his direction and stops leaving a good distance between them.

Before she could begin, Ivar beat her to it, "Let me guess, she is suffering isn't she? That's why you are back here. Because she won't stop whimpering and sobbing even in her sleep." 

He was right. How is he always right? Was he spying thru some peep hole in the door? 

Yes, how do you know that?" she tried keeping the skepticism out of her voice.

"Because you girls are unusually loud. I could hear her whining." He said in a way like he was complaining.
