The next half a year was pure agony.
There was no cheese strategy for the strongest boss, otherwise he wouldn't be classified as the strongest boss.
All there was, was death and more death.
(A.N. Imma take a second to appreciate the fact that I used was and was back-to-back and it made sense. I hate English but this does put a smile on my face.)
Diluc had never again been killed by the dragon, but that was offset by the pure frustration that followed when he tried to fight the Nameless King.
Every time Diluc failed, he had to walk back to the fog gate, enter it, fight a dragon, kill it and only then could he have a chance to fight the Nameless King. Usually, these attempts only lasted about 10-20 seconds.
He had learnt to dodge the lightning strikes by paying all of his attention to the Nameless King but that didn't stop him from getting killed by his Swordspear.
The Nameless King was nothing like he was in the game. In the game, he was slow and hard hitting with many mixups and combos. While in real life, he was faster than the lightning he sent down, killed in one attack and always used the same inescapable combos.
Theoretically, using the same combo would make it easier to dodge and counter right? Wrong.
Every time Diluc tried to exploit something in the Nameless King's attacks, there'd always be a plan B for the King. If you dodged, then he'd simply throw more lightning at the end of it to catch you. If you blocked, you were stupid because his attacks would kill you anyway.
There was no winning with this behemoth of a man.
It had gotten to the point that he was simply invincible in the real world. Not because he was extremely strong or anything, but because his instincts had been polished to the point that any attack would be easily dodged, even if he was sleeping.
And this level was nowhere near being close to killing the Nameless King.
He wasn't a boss you could kill through thinking; you could only rely on your instincts. If you tried to think about your next move, you were already dead.
But you also had to think otherwise you'd get killed by an attack that you weren't able to react to.
The fight was very contradictory; you had to both overuse your brain and completely turn it off at the same time.
Diluc had leveled up to the max he could with the number of bosses he had killed, and even then, he wasn't able to react to the Nameless King's attacks.
(A.N. I'll update his stat sheet after we finish the time skip, please be patient.)
Diluc had to reach a state where he was predicting everything the Nameless King was doing instantly and without delay. If it took him too long to figure out which attack would be used, he'd die. If he simply dodged because big blade coming towards his head, he'd die. And if he left and just became a farmer, he'd probably enjoy that more than dying repeatedly to Gwyn's nameless son.
Thankfully, it only took a matter of time to train himself to this degree.
Diluc only had to die to the Nameless King repeatedly without doing anything else for a couple of months.
Diluc had met his end to the Nameless King's lightning and Swordspear more than was possible to count in one sitting. If the Nameless King and his dragon wasn't reset every time he had died, Diluc probably would've already win by filling up the area with blood and his corpses.
For the last time, Diluc stepped through the haunting fog gate. He had gotten so close last time only to get excited and was too slow to dodge a lightning bolt.
He had tried to use Invisible Weapon and Invisible Body to try and sneak attack but he ended up get getting bisected regardless. Tricks doesn't work on the King.
Diluc was able to get rid of the Dragon with no health lost. The Nameless King was much slower on the back of his dragon when compared to after the Dragon was killed.
After getting rid of the nuisance, Diluc was now face-to-face with the most difficult enemy he's ever fought. Pontiff Sulyvahn was nothing compared to who was in front of him.
Diluc quickly dodged the first volley of lightning strikes at the very beginning of the fight. The Nameless King loved to summon volleys of lightning strikes at you if you weren't within the range of his Swordspear that could impale you with but a thought.
Getting within range, The Nameless King threw the same first attack he always did. Diluc instantly responded by rolling to the back side of the Nameless King. This was the only way to survive his first attack.
Now, a lightning strike was also dodged by Diluc, this was his follow-up of choice if you ever dodged an attack by rolling.
The Nameless King then lunged at Diluc with his Swordspear. From now on, the attacks would be completely random, the only thing that stays consistent is that it could kill Diluc with but a scratch.
Within a hair's breadth, he dodged the strike with all the grace a weakling could muster. He then returned with his own attack to the Nameless King's chest. Instead of flinching or acknowledging that he took damage at all, he returned a strike of his own towards Diluc's abdomen.
Knowing that this strike was coming, he once again dodged and returned a small scratch. Diluc didn't stick around to see if he'd get injured by another attack. He quickly retreated while dodging the numerous lightning strikes that threatened his life.
Following this, the Nameless King rose his Swordspear to the heavens and struck down with the force of a mountain.
Knowing that there was no way to dodge this attack, Diluc simply started attack before the move was finished.
And sure enough, he dodged the massive Swordspear but he couldn't dodge the rumbling of the Earth after it had hit the ground and probably damaged a tectonic plate.
