"I think it's time you start on some driving lessons, Zany." My dad mews over his steaming coffee cup, throwing me a knowing look.

"Ayanda beat you to it. I can drive better than most people, I'd be willing to bet on it." I lie through my teeth, about who taught me and not about being better. His eyebrows knit in confusion as he sits up.

"You can drive?" I don't know what to make of his tone, so I hum nonchalantly and busy myself with squirting syrup on my pancakes. I can't remember the last time my dad and I had breakfast together. But now that I'm going back to school, I am sure to share the first meal of the day with him more often.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he sets his cup down, his frown deepening. Chewing nervously on my bottom lip, I avert my eyes in an attempt to brush off his intense glare.
