Faye already knew that eating at a place that wasn't her restaurant was a big mistake because when she got there, she was looking for Claudia. After all, the owner didn't present a list of visitors who came.
Faye and Denis are looking in the middle of this cafe crowd starting from the ground floor. She was surprised that it was so busy at this hour, as she remembered it was not office lunchtime yet.
They couldn't find Claudia on the ground floor and moved upstairs.
Faye thought it would be quiet, but it was full there too. This cafe is really in demand, making her curious about what menu is served. From the restaurant decoration, she can say that it is unique because it uses a mural image.
Faye saw Claudia's figure finally sitting in the back and corner, waving at her without forgetting the smile on her lips covered in dark red lipstick.
Faye walked over and sat across from Claudia, "Sorry we're late, there's a disturbance on the road."
"Ex-boyfriend—ouch ..." Faye elbowed Denis in the ribs before he could finish.
Faye doesn't understand why Denis is honest.
Claudia didn't like James so when she said 'ex', Claudia immediately realized that they were talking about James, remembering that her mother was the most sympathetic about Faye's breakup with James.
"What did you say, Denis?" Claudia asked.
Faye answered nervously, "Denis means Man Ray, Ma! Yes, you know the character from the sea sponge cartoon? We talked about it on the street."
"Mama thinks you don't like watching television?" Claudia's question made Faye freeze on the spot, "It's nice that you can make my daughter like watching cartoons, Denis."
"Ah, not really, Auntie," said Denis embarrassed to get praise from Claudia.
"Call me Claudia, Denis," Claudia said calmly, "or is it true that your relationship is only Sugar Mama and Sugar Baby?"
Eh!?
Faye can't believe it.
Claudia mentioned what Faye said yesterday! Did Claudia really believe it? But rice has become porridge. Faye and Denis have registered their marriage, they are officially husband and wife now.
"Only at first, but we're married Mama," said Faye nervously.
Claudia's eyes, who had been calmly investigating Faye and Denis's behavior, turned bright, "If that's the case, Mama won't take over your restaurant, Fay~"
What? Taking over Faye's restaurant?
Faye built the hard way. Although she had to admit, Claudia's role was big through investing. Her first restaurant was not pure Faye's money. Her first restaurant from investors, the largest stake there from her parents. She managed it while raising money to build a new restaurant using her own money.
Faye is grateful that she doesn't admit, won't want to admit that marriage was a lie. She doesn't want her restaurant to be taken over.
"So Denis~ how long have you known each other?" Claudia asked excitedly.
Faye glances at Denis anxiously.
Does Denis remember what they said yesterday when answering Alex's question?
"One month a week," said Denis casually.
Thank goodness Denis remembers it.
"It's a short time you can get married," Claudia said.
"What can I say? I love Fay too much~ she makes my life colorful~" said Denis while looking at Faye.
Faye exhaled.
Don't be tempted ... just a joke.
Don't be tempted ... just a joke.
These were the words Faye repeatedly mentioned, but her efforts failed when she felt her cheeks heat up and her heart was pounding.
Claudia laughed proudly as if it were an accomplishment, "You're really smart Denis."
"I am," said Denis jokingly.
Faye rolled my eyes watching them laugh together intimately. The feeling of anxiety earlier was meaningless.
Denis is a flirtatious type so why worry?
"Oh yes, Ma, what do you want to give me?" Faye asked curiously.
Claudia stopped laughing to answer, "Order the food first and then talk, Fay~"
"Yes, honey~" Denis added softly.
Their words were even in sync!
Faye folded her arms across her chest, "I won't be until I know what it is," she said, holding on to her stance. She didn't want to eat at the same time Claudia announced her gift, especially if the present was bad, making her lose her appetite.
Faye hates wasting food while other people starve to the point of picking up in the trash because they can't afford to buy at the market.
"You're as stubborn as ever, Fay," Claudia complained.
"Who do I get this from?" Faye asked back casually.
Claudia rolled her eyes which made Faye chuckle, "Okay then," she said in surrender.
"Hm," Faye muttered, waiting for Claudia to say the next thing that broke her mood in that instant.
"To be honest, Mama has already ordered honeymoon tickets for you~"
