They tended a small fire in the Redrun lowlands, nearing the very border of the Earl's territory. It was a small roof-less stone building that they sat in, with one of the walls reduced to a mound of rubble and the rest full of cracks and lacking any sort of strength.

Eleven of them gathered round it, sat on rotting logs that they'd dragged in, or stones.

They didn't need the fire for their food – they'd already been given rations of dried meat and hard bread that they were munching through. The fire was merely there for comfort. To give them a little more warmth. And if it helped to unfreeze the frosty atmosphere about the group, then it was a bonus.
