"This... This is a lot of stuff... Do we really need so many things?" David was flabbergasted as he looked at the list Alex gave him. "yea... We have a serious water shortage since our water source is almost dry, or at least the layer we can reach is. You enchanted some of the small bandages already, but we still lack a lot of medical supplies. We also need to heavily reinforce our defenses and install traps and tools for counter-attacking to deal with our inevitable enemies. As a matter of fact, that's probably number two on our list, right after the water shortage. And that's not even half of it, as you can see on the list."
"Look at it this way, it's good training for your quirk at least. Plus, I can lower your martial arts training time as long as you put in the effort. Though you might die in the process... Eh, I'm sure you'll be fine" Ethan tried to joke with David.
"Thanks for the encouragement, but It's not helping. I'm going to do it since it's important for the settlement, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to be happy exhausting myself for god knows how long getting all of this ready." David replied.
"I'll bring Sarah to lift up your spirits from time to time, I think you need to spend more time with kids your age. You're adopting the same mindset as us, and that's a little too early for you to do so." Alex said with a concerned tone.
"You're probably right, I'll work something up for the water problem while you go get her." David decided as he sat to work.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What are you doing?" Sarah questioned David as she entered David's room. "JHSDJLJF What the hell?!" David fell backward from the stool he sat on. "Um... Is it a bad time? My dad came and told me to visit you, but if you're busy I can wait." Sarah said as she awkwardly watched David get up. "Na, it's fine. I was just surprised. I'm working on a solution for our water problem at the moment, and I got to invest." David replied.
"Are those the solutions you came up with?" Sarah asked as she pointed at the scribbles on the page in David's hands. "Yup!" David said as he quickly hid the page behind his back. The solutions he thought of were, of course, possible enchantments and tools he could use to fix the problem. Having Alex involved was already a little stressful, he didn't want Sarah to also find out. He trusted her, but not at the level of spilling this vital information for no real reason.
"Ok... Show me what you came up with, I'll give a second opinion." Sarah ignored David's weird yelp and offered her help.
"I haven't had a good idea yet, so I don't really need a second opinion at the moment," David explained his situation to Sarah. "Then I'll help you come up with ones. You said it's about the water problem right? How about we try to come up with a tool that saves water? Most of our water expenses go towards agriculture, so controlling that will help us a lot. How about a modified drip? Though maybe we need to start somewhere simpler."
"That's it! Thank's for the idea, I'll work on it now!" David hurriedly pushed Sarah so that he could start coming up with proper enchantments. "Don't you need help with that? coming up with an idea is only the start, you can't possibly plan and build something that complex alone." Sarah objected.
"I'll be fine, and you helped me a lot already!" David continued. "Fine, but don't complain to me about your failure later." Sarah gave up as she retreated to her house.
"I can enchant the drips, but with what enchantments?" David began to mutter to himself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How did it go?" Alex came for an update at the end of the day. "Sarah gave me an ingenues idea! I've been working on it and I think I have a solution, it will take a good while to implement though" David said. "Come to think of it, she did say you acted weird. Did you do something?" Alex asked. "Oh, I wanted to come up with enchantments immediately" David sweatdropped at Sarah's intuition.
"Please share your plan, then. Just so we make sure it's fine and all" Alex asked. "Well, Sarah's idea was to focus on agriculture, drips, to be specific. It's perfect for me since desert crops don't need a lot of water, meaning, I can enchant the drops to create extremely small amounts of water and slowly drip them to the plants throughout the day. However, creating something from nothing with an automatic enchantment that will be active around the clock is very difficult, so I don't know when I'll finish it." David explained.
"I see... Well, it's not like we have a better way. Try to hurry, but don't overexert yourself. We still have time. I'll check on you tomorrow, goodnight" Alex said. "Goodnight" David replied.
