Capítulo 140: Blood in the water (2)

The three remaining teams are pushing through the skeletal horde heading for the wall below me. The two archers repeatedly take shots at me but one of them soon dies from one of my javelins.

The first group of adventurers reaches the wall below me. It was their archer I had killed bit that hadn't slowed their advance. This group is made up of swordsmen using short swords and thieves. Their movement speed as a group is above the others and with their light equipment, they quickly begin to scale the wall using the handheld I previously created.

Too bad for them. What I made, I can also unmake. Magic rushes into the rock beneath me through my feet and right as one thief is about to reach the top all those handheld crumble in their hands.

Screaming in fear they begin to fall. The two fastest climbers fall the farthest and are probably unable to get back up. The ones who hadn't climbed so far up are only mildly injured but wary of the wall before them.

The team behind them also slows to a stop allowing the team from the alpha plane to push past them.

"Make way you unprepared idiots. We'll kill the goblin and get those treasure chests without problems. Just keep the skeletons of our back and you can have the corpse after we killed it."

They really are after the treasure chests. But if they think that getting up here is easy and taking me down is just a passing action then they are wrong. I start to rapidly throw all the javelins I have with me straight down the wall. I don't even have to aim since they are all bunched up down there.

Once I run out I sprint back to the treasure chest and get more javelins. I repeat that and get an arrow to the shoulder while I'm doing so but I fail to completely halt their advance.

The climbing equipment allows those guys to create a line of rope that is secured by multiple deep metallic hooks in the rock. After they set this line they'll be able to climb much more quickly.

Frustratingly the adventurer sinking those hooks into the rock has a shield. A plastic shield that has a conical shape and easily deflects my javelins. After noticing that I couldn't do much to him I decided to turn his companions into hedgehogs. Two of them are dead now and the other two are in pretty bad shape.

But I have run out of javelins to throw at them. So I can only watch and wait for them to come up to me. They don't know I've run out after all so they still need to be careful and proceed slowly.

While that is happening I cast a glance over to the two teams that are trying to get to the next floor. The shield-bearers have arrived on the icy path which their two mages are continuing to build. The magic swordsmen are right behind them taking most of the heat from the frenzied skeletons.

Right when I look over a beast jumps out of the water and crashes into one of the shield-bearers. The poor lad is taken by surprise and loses his footing being dragged into the water.

Only then does my brain process that this wasn't a beast but a shoal of piranhas. They truly managed to swim in such unison that they created the illusion of being a bigger creature!

Now I know that it's the piranhas but the two teams on the icy path across the lake have no idea. To them, this must look like either an undiscovered monster or an evolution of a vicious piranha.

"What exactly was that?"

"It got Geoffry! We need to help him!"

"He's already doomed. Wearing heavy armor makes him sink so we can't get him out unless we had a water mage."

"Who cares about Geoffry! He's dead anyway! What if that thing comes back? We're sitting ducks here!"

"There's just one such monster and it's probably still occupied with Geoffry. Keep your positions and we'll try to hurry over to the waterfall!"

At first, chaos broke out among them but one of the mages has managed to get things back under control for now. They are now advancing the icy path on the double.

Before they get far, however, another piranha shoal jumps out of the water and drags yet another shield-bearer into the waters below.

"How is that thing back so fast?! It should take a while for Geoffry to get killed while he's wearing armor."

"Oh no, there's- Aaah"

Again a shield-bearer is pushed off the icy path. And right before he can yell out the cause of their current predicament. There's more than one vicious piranha shoal in the lake. I didn't count them before but I'm sure there were at least six. So why aren't they all attacking?

<Probably a hunting instinct. They will slowly chip away at the enemy's numbers until they can take them out in one fell swoop.>

That's a darn useful instinct then.

A bolt of pain from my leg reminds me that there are still adventurers here that I have to deal with. The first climber is looking at me with a vicious smile holding a hook launcher. The hook he launched has sunk into my calf allowing the rope to extend all the way up the wall now.

Son of a... I need to get that hook out or they will either use me as an anchor point to climb up here or use the line to pull me down. The hook is embedded in my flesh so just pulling it out won't be possible. Good thing I have my dismantling skill. The anatomy of a goblin is engraved into my brain like no other.

I pull out my dagger and with two quick incisions, a piece of flesh with a hook in it is removed from my calf.

The climber with his hook launcher looks at me with a mixture of horror and admiration.

I throw the hook directly at his face.
