"You handled the situation well. You never once gave in and admitted to it."
"But I reacted. She saw in my eyes that I was experiencing strong emotional distress at her words. It made her believe that I really was who she believed me to be."
"No one could stay calm when confronted like that."
"My point exactly."
"I don't know what you mean."
"You don't need to. All you need to do is listen to my story. Maybe it will help you, maybe it won't.
"The story of house winter began a long time ago. My ancestor, we don't know his first name so we call him lord winter, was a powerful ice mage at the time. He was strong but never quite as good as the people he compared himself with.
"He spent many restless nights trying to figure out why he was inferior and came to the conclusion that his class was holding him back. Coincidentally he was within the white tower built by Being Y. And Being Y loves to test the morality of adventurers that enter his dungeon and if they act in a way he sees as unjust he will punish them.
"He noticed lord winter's distress about having a 'bad' class and prepared a trap for him. While advancing through the dungeon he came across a trap that Being Y had set to test him. He found an abandoned temple-like building that had a peculiar ritual inscribed on its altar.
"The ritual promised the acquisition of a higher class for the one who performed it. All that was required was for lord winter to make love to a female atop the altar.
"Lord winter was blinded by the possibility to overcome the weakness he believed was holding him back. However, according to the text, the ritual could only be performed once before the altar would use its powers.
"Dreading the prospect of another lucky adventurer stumbling upon this temple lord winter wanted to find a female as soon as possible. He searched the surrounding passages of the dungeon and miraculously found a lone female adventurer being overwhelmed by monsters. In hindsight, he was clearly being set up by Being Y.
"He saved the female and took her to the altar in the hopes of using her gratitude to get his objective done. The lady was indeed attracted to him but when he proposed to do it on the altar of an abandoned temple within a dungeon she wasn't willing.
"Lord winter couldn't accept no for an answer and decided that if she wasn't willing he would just take what he already saw as his given right. He slipped the juice of a berry growing within the dungeon into her drink and watched her drink it. The berry juice acted as a sort of muscle relaxant and made her unable to resist his advances.
"One thing led to another and after the deed was done he received a new class as promised. He was now a sub-zero mage, a class that had never been heard of before with the ability to partially freeze time and space. But he had committed a grave sin within the white tower and Being Y was not done with him just yet.
"Being Y personally placed a curse upon lord winter. Lord winter was to marry his victim and have a child with her. That child would be a girl and would have to be married off to the strongest ice mage who would take her first time while she was paralyzed by the exact berry juice he himself had used. Should he fail to do so he would die an excruciating death. And to make it worse, the curse would be transferred from generation to generation along with his class.
"Lord winter was scared now. An existence like the dungeon master had spoken directly to him and placed a curse upon him. Gripped by terror he grabbed the still immobilized lady and ran out of the dungeon. He had been fairly deep in the dungeon but during his entire escape, he wasn't attacked by a single monster.
"He arrived outside and got teleported back to the alpha plan where he searched for people capable of lifting his curse. Curses can be lifted but only by someone of similar strength to the one who placed it. And who would be foolish enough to attempt removing the curse of one of the most feared dungeon masters?
"So lord winter was unable to avoid his punishment. He had always been proud and had dreamed of creating a family name that would prosper for centuries. And now he had to find an ambitious ice mage to sleep with his daughter while she was unable to even move.
"You'd think that much would be enough break to break the man but he was still trying to escape the curse. He married the woman and had his first daughter. Immediately after her birth, she was given away to be raised by servants. Once she reached maturity lord winter wouldn't feel pain for a daughter he didn't know.
"While his firstborn was raised elsewhere he had another child with his wife in the hopes that with the curse being resolved everything would be normal now. They had another girl and since he believed the curse to be over, lord winter made her his little princess. His wife would still sometimes ask for his other daughter but he wasn't willing to hear it.
"Time passed and he married off his firstborn as the curse demanded. Years later his second daughter reached maturity and he suddenly felt the curse awaken within him. Turns out the curse wasn't so simple. All the daughters he had would have to go through the ritual. That finally broke the man.
"He had poured all his love into that daughter and now the same fate would befall her as his wife and firstborn had experienced. He was torn between letting the curse end him or forcing his daughter through this ordeal. The ice mage who was currently hailed as the strongest was a cruel man, he wanted power even more than lord winter and marriage to him promised all sorts of troubles."
