Capítulo 93: We are moving (1)
At this point, the entire screen is just filled with fire and smoke. The screams are being completely drowned out by the roar of the inferno. Note to self, don't entrust Vespasian with flammable objects if you can help it.
"Come to think of it, where's Jade?"
"She's lying over there. She let her mp go into the negative and now she's suffering from her soul being overstrained. She will naturally recover over time but for now, it's best to leave her alone in her suffering."
I follow Vespasian's gaze and see Jade lying on a mountain of pillows with an empty look in her eyes. Her face is now incapable of human expressions but I can tell that she's in pain.
"Ah, seems that it is already time for you to return. It was a pleasure meeting you two and I am looking forward to our next encounter. And Guy, give your daughter my kindest regards and convey my admiration for her interest in the ancient Romans."
"I'll... be sure to do that."
My vision swims and I find myself back in my room at VR dungeons HQ. This mission certainly brought some... new experiences with it. If I ever need help with arson I'll go ask Vespasian right away.
<Now that that's over we can return to discussing your moving to a house. I already talked to Melody and she's all for it. She went ahead and started looking at some houses with me.>
So I'm already late for the party. Where are you right now?
<Exit the building and follow the street you are on.>
Are you still on the same street?
<This may shock you but this entire street is owned by VR dungeons. Almost all of us humans-turned-monsters have a house here even if we rarely ever use it. Valeria is the only one who really uses her's.>
This gets more pompous with every second I listen. What company owns an entire street?!! I'm on my way.
I hurry out of the building and follow the street until I see Melody waving at me with Navi standing next to her. I walk over and Melody links arms with me while smiling brightly.
"You wouldn't believe all the great houses they have around here. Navi showed me through them all and I already have my favorites. Let's go take a look!"
Melody has entered shopping mode. I have no other choice than to let her drag me around entering house after house until she is satisfied. I was never capable of keeping up with her after she got this excited and honestly I don't have many things I want to have in a house. Just having a house would be enough for me to be more than happy.
In the end, Melody narrows it down to three houses she can't decide between and I'm made to choose. I settle on a nice and small house with a white facade and a small garden.
It's a two storey house with a large open kitchen leading into the living room, two bathrooms, three bedrooms and two more rooms we can use for other things. The cellar is just one big room without any kind of furnishing but Navi said we can renovate as we see fit.
As we exit the house I get curious.
"Navi, you said that you and the others have houses here too. Which ones are they?"
"Want me to give you a tour?"
"Sure."
Navi begins to lead us around while giving small introductions to every house that has an owner. All the other houses around are apparently empty.
Edward's house is as normal as it can get. Standard grey color, an untended garden, and a sign that reads recently sold.
"The sign has been here for more than a year now but Edward still refuses to take it away. He says it makes the house more unassuming."
Next, we see Navi's house. Or more precisely we see her garden. The house is in the middle of a large expanse of flowers, trees, and swaths of butterflies. I look around and see a lady crouched near a flower bed watering some red daffodils. Isn't that Navi? I snap my head around but the Navi that has been guiding us around is still there.
<Ignore that. It's just one of my other bodies.>
Other bodies? What the ever-living **** do you mean by one of your other bodies?
<How do you think I can talk to both you, Jade, and all the others simultaneously?>
Multitasking? I know Quinn has that skill so if you get it high enough...
<No, it doesn't work that easily. I have a skill that allows me to make multiple versions of myself without them being any weaker.>
"What are you two doing? I can tell that you are somehow talking but your mouths aren't moving."
Melody has noticed our little conversation. I dart a glance at the second Navi and find that she has disappeared. How do I explain this?
<I'm astonished that she can detect our conversation since you are technically not talking to the Navi present. Her senses must be very sharp.>
"There, you are doing it again!"
"No need to get upset. I merely explained one of my more advanced skills to Guy after he spotted me using it. The skill has a very high clearance level so I can't tell you about it."
"Sigh. I understand that there are things you can't tell me but please don't use this kind of telepathy thing too much when I'm around."
"I will keep that in mind."
Melody seems content with Navi's answer and we move along. Valeria's house looks like some kind of horror mansion. Dark oak wooden walls, willow trees, and a scary atmosphere to boot. Just looking at that place sends shivers down my back so I hurry Navi to proceed elsewhere.
Lastly, we see Darwin's house or laboratory to be more accurate. It looks like a modern research facility and doesn't fit in with the surroundings at all.
