throughout the whole day, jimin followed us around. though i felt bad that i couldn't talk to him that much, he reassured me that he was fine and that i should just enjoy the time with my family.
we had went to one of the restaurants in gangnam, enjoying our leisure time. after so many years, it was the first time we actually went out to grab some lunch with our dad, their dad.
jimin was seated on one of the chairs next to our table, looking through the menu that was placed in the table. he looked like a kid who was patiently waiting for his parents, cute.
he might have caught me staring at him since when he looked back, he had this mischievous smile imprinted on his face. jimin waved at me, smiling so widely that his eyes were getting smaller again.
i flashed him a small smile. he then came over, telling me that he would go around the city first since he didn't want to disturb my time with my family. i nodded subtly and watched up walked away.
why did i actually expect him to disappear and smoke would suddenly appear? i think i read too many fantasy books.
i looked at the bright smiles my brothers were wearing, i couldn't help but think of the life we could've had if only i wasn't an illegitimate child.
"are you full already? eat more, isn't this your favorite?" dad suddenly kept piling my plate with some seafood. my brothers glanced at him, stopping dad immediately.
"why?" dad asked my brothers, "you don't like seafood?" he turned to look at me, placing his utensils down.
"she's allergic to it." seojun answered for me, "don't you remember when we called you because she was rushed to the hospital?" he nonchalantly asked.
"oh, is that so? i didn't know." my dad suddenly looked away, excusing his self for a while. hyunjun then exchanged my plate with his, motioning to eat the meat on his plate instead since it had no seafood.
"do you think he's actually changing?" seojun asked, placing his chopsticks down and looking at us. "i mean i like that he is changing but why so sudden?"
i forgot to tell them about the talk me and dad had. they still don't know that i already knew that i wasn't his child.
i raised my head, meeting the eyes of my brothers who seemed to be anticipating for my answer. "i already knew about it, how i'm just an illegitimate child of mom." i looked back down on my plate and started to play a bit with my food.
"oh," that was the only thing that hyunjun managed to say. "forget about it. you're our sister and nothing can change that even if we have different fathers." he had placed his hand on my shoulder, giving it a small squeeze.
"i'm fine, you have nothing to worry about me. i just need a few days and i'll be completely good as ever after." i flashed a small smile, reassuring them that they had nothing to worry about.
dad came back from the washroom, immediately smiling at us. why do i find this situation awkward?
we finished our food in silence, dad trying to come up with different topics for us to talk about. it's not like we didn't want to talk to him, we weren't just used to the fact that he was smiling and talking about something not related to work and studies.
right after lunch, we all headed to the mall.
"we should all separate and meet here again later. all of you might have specific shops you'd like to go to so go ahead." dad said, me and my brothers nodding. "oh and hanbyeol, here. take this and go buy whatever you want, okay? i don't want to see you empty handed." he handed me his card, letting out a laugh.
i took it, not wanting to ruin his happiness and muttering a simple thank you. "i'll use it well." i smiled before walking away and heading to the bookstore.
just few minutes, jimin suddenly appeared on my side. "hello." i flinched from my spot, yelping as i took a step back. "did i scare you?" jimin chuckled, his eyes disappearing again.
"wh-what are you doing here? i thought you were walking around the city?" i asked, using the book in my hands to cover my blushing state.
"i wanted to check on you. i feel magical nowadays, i just teleport wherever you are." he laughed, bending a bit and clapping his hands in joy. noticing my stare, he cleared his throat and composed his self.
i had dragged him in one of my favorite sections in the store. grabbing a book from one of the selves and taking a seat on the floor. i patted the spot next to me and jimin immediately sat next to me.
"what are you reading?" he asked, leaning closer anf taking a peek on the book i was reading. i leaned further back, almost stumbling when his hand managed to support my waist.
"careful." he pulled me back up, both of us suddenly flustered because of the close proximity between us. jimin immediately took his hand away, turning around from me.
i bit my lips, slapping my self in a light manner, afraid to make a sound. i pretended to read my book, trying my best to look like i'm all focused on reading.
my eyes kept on wandering on the boy seated next to me who was, even up until now, has his back turned from me and was taking such deep breaths from time to time.
i turned around, leaning on jimin's back. i felt him stiffened, straightening his back immediately. the first thing that came to my mind was to pull away, i was just about to do it when jimin held my wrist, pulling me back and letting me lean on him.
"if you feel comfortable then go ahead and do it, i don't really mind." jimin muttered, taking his hand away from mine and clearing his throat once more.
i went back on reading my book, leaning comfortably on him. i didn't want to burden him to much so i didn't press onto him too much of my weight, which was a bit hard on my side.
"lean your weight on me, byeol. you know what, i know something that can be comfortable for the both of us." he let out one of his light-hearted laughs.
he pulled away, leaning onto one of the bookshelves before pulling me next to him. he had his hand on my waist, his head suddenly leaning on my shoulder.
it was my turn to stiffen up, not knowing where to look. whenever i tried reading, i got distracted, making me go back to the very first word again.
"is this supposed to be comfortable for the both of us or just for you only?" i managed to ask, a small laugh following afterwards.
"why?" jimin suddenly took his head away, looking at me with a small frown on his face, "you can lean on me instead, it will be much more comfortable for you." he suggested, tapping his shoulder.
i smiled, leaning my head on his shoulder. he then proceeded to lean his head on mine, keeping his hand on my waist which made my cheeks blush.
after hanging out in the library, we went to check on some clothing shops, buying a couple of things along the way. jimin was next to my side, playing with my hand from time to time, sometimes even laying his head on my shoulder while i'm checking on stuffs.
"why are being extra clingy today?" i asked him as he placed his head on the top of mine again while we were standing by the entrance. we were waiting for my brothers and dad, for the past few minutes, jimin had either been playing with my hair or leaning his head on mine.
"can't i be clingy with you?" he asked.
"well, i mean, i'm not saying you can't but then—" i couldn't finish what i was saying when jimin had cut me off with a laugh.
"you're cute when you're flustered." he poked my cheek, standing next to me and leaning by the wall. "your family is coming, i'll wait for you back at home." he waved goodbye before walking away.
"hanbyeol!" hyunjun rushed his way towards me, a couple paperbags on his hand. he handed me one, motioning me to open it quickly. "i thought you'd like it." inside the paperbag was couple of books and art materials.
"thank you, i love it." he gave me a victorious smile while seojun turned to glare at him. i looked at seojun who had a single paperbag in his hands which looked like it came from one clothing store.
"what did you buy, seojun?" i asked, pointing at the paperbag on his hands. he placed it on his back, clearing his throat and looking elsewhere and not meeting my eyes.
"nothing, i just bought a dres— i mean a sweatshirt." he managed to save his self before spilling the truth. his ears were turning slightly red, giving off a signal that he was lying. his ears can't really lie.
i took the paperbag from him, "thank you, i'm sure i'll like it." opening it, i saw a white dress. it was simple and plain, just like how i always liked it. seojun's ear was now burning red, he kept on avoiding my gaze which made me smile in return.
hyunjun slung his arm on my shoulder, "anyways, now that our family is starting to be okay, can we hear you call us oppa now?" i shook my head, disagreeing to his worst idea, "why not? we're years older than you, when can we receive the respect we deserve?" he sounded offended, his hand on his chest as if i had done something wrong.
"stop being dramatic about it. i hate being called that word anyways, i feel like someone wants be as their sugar daddy whenever they call me that." seojun looked so disgusted at the thought.
"and that is the reason why you don't have a girlfriend until now, little brother." hyunjun tapped his shoulder, somehow feeling symphathy for him.
i rolled my eyes at them, roaming my eyes around to find any signs of our dad. once he got back, we were surprised with how many paperbags were in his hands, i never knew he was this shopaholic.
"i bought you kids some things i thought you may like, you can check them once we get home." he smiled, we all helped him in carrying what he bought.
how rich can this man be? all of these seemed like they were worth as much the fees we need to pay for school.
as soon as we got home, i rushed to my room, my hands filled with different sorts of paperbags. i placed them all in my bed, not knowing where to start.
wait, where's jimin? he said he'll be waiting for me here. he was surely not in my room, maybe he just went out for a walk.
"boo." i jumped in surprise, covering my mouth to restrain myself from making any noise. when i turned around, jimin was already on his knees laughing while pointing at me.
"d-don't do that." i composed myself, taking a seat on the bed, grabbing one of the paperbags and opening it. inside were new books from a series that i had been planning to read.
just as i was about to open more, my phone buzzed. i checked it and saw taehyung calling, "hello?"
"oh hey, hanbyeol. uhm, well, you see... i was wondering if you're free tomorrow? i wanted to go somewhere and all of my friends have their own plans so i thought of you but if you can't go, it's completely fine." i heard him exhaled out a long breathe.
"yeah, i'll go, i have nothing to do tomorrow." i said. jimin looked at me, furrowing his eyebrows, he looked like he was wondering who i was on the phone with.
"taehyung", i mouthed.
"great, i'll pick you up at one in the afternoon? thank you, uhm, i'll see you tomorrow." we both hung up on the call, taehyung sounded way too excited than i thought, why was he so excited anyways?
"he might confess to you, just be ready." jimin muttered while looking through the paperbags, not even sparing me a glance.
"we're just friends and we just started talking weeks ago. and besides, i don't think he will look good with someone like me, i prefer someone else." i said the last part in a low voice, not wanting for jimin to hear it.
but what if he's right? what if taehyung suddenly confesses to me?
i don't want to reject him but then it's not like i have a choice. get your thoughts together, he doesn't like you and you have nothing to worry about.
