She looked at Shounak with big question mark on his face .
He explained, "The patient you are going to operate on , is my father . "
D registered what he just said and was quite shocked . She remained silent for a while then said ,"Do you want me to explain about your father's condition to you . Pardon my rudeness as I don't know his name ."
He replied with solemn face , "It's ok . You don't have to explain again I quite understood it just now and professor has already briefed about surgery to me."
It was hard to explain what he was thinking but to D he appeared troubled due to his father's condition . She figured he didn't want
to hear how bad his condition is again .So , she didn't elaborate further but instead asked ,"Are you sure you want me to perform the surgery on your father ?"
He looked straight at her eyes and said ," I trust Professor Kapoor's choice as he is my close family friend. "
She said sternly ,"I am asking ,do you trust me as your father's doctor ?" She put emphasis on words 'your father's doctor ' .
Sensing her displeasure , he assured her ," I do trust you as my father's doctor . Don't worry my intention wasn't to look down on you . it's just my mind is occupied at the moment . Plz forgive my ignorance ."
She looked guilty ,"No .No. It's ok . I just overreacted . Actually I'm sorry ."
To dissolve the awkward atmosphere professor Kapoor talked ," So, D, I hope, you will take the surgery and take care of my friend .Thank you in advance "
D smiled ,"Of course professor . You know you don't need to thank me , just feed me some Puran Poli made by you . "
They both smiled .
