Capítulo 104: 103. Eegrouping & Reflections

Anon led his team through the forest, the faint glow of the Nexus still looming in the distance. They had successfully severed the connection between the figure and the rift, but the battle had left its mark. Each member of the team was exhausted, their energy drained from the intense confrontation.

As they ran, Rin broke the silence. "Sensei, how many more of those things are we going to have to fight?"

Anon glanced at her, his face impassive but his mind racing. "More than I'd like to admit," he replied. "The Nexus is a living entity. It's constantly feeding off the energy of the Void, and it will continue to manifest these creatures as long as it has the power to do so. Our job is to disrupt that power, one fight at a time."

Takeshi, running alongside Anon, clenched his fists. "It feels like no matter how many of these things we kill, the Nexus keeps getting stronger. What's the endgame here, sensei?"

Anon remained silent for a moment, contemplating the gravity of the situation. He knew that the convergence was a force far beyond their understanding—a merging of realities that threatened the existence of all timelines. Every rift they closed, every enemy they defeated, was only a temporary solution.

"The Nexus is a manifestation of something far bigger than we've ever faced," Anon finally said, his tone measured. "It's not just about winning these battles—it's about survival. If we don't close the Nexus, our world, and countless others, will be consumed by the Void."

Kazumi, always quiet but thoughtful, spoke up from the back of the group. "But how do we close it? You said it's alive—so there has to be a way to sever its connection permanently, right?"

Anon nodded. "Yes. But we haven't found that way yet. The Eternal Hokage are working on deciphering the secrets of the Nexus as we speak. But until then, we're the first line of defense. Every battle we win buys us more time."

The forest grew denser as they approached the rendezvous point where the other teams were waiting. Anon could feel the weight of his team's exhaustion, but he knew there was little time for rest. The convergence was relentless, and the final battle was drawing near.

As they reached the clearing, Anon saw the other shinobi already gathered. Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Minato stood at the center, their expressions grim but determined. Their teams had faced similar challenges—each one fighting against the Nexus in different parts of the forest, each one battling the forces of darkness that had emerged from the rifts.

"You're late, Naruto said with a grin as Anon and his team entered the clearing. His usual levity was present, but the tension in the air couldn't be ignored. His eyes were shadowed with exhaustion, just like everyone else's, but there was a fire of determination still burning bright.

Anon gave a short nod in response, no need for banter or excuses. They were all feeling the pressure. "We had a bit of a situation," he said, glancing at his team, who were catching their breath. "Another one of the Nexus's avatars. It was pulling directly from the Void."

Sasuke's sharp eyes locked onto Anon. "Did you sever the connection?" His tone was cool, but there was an underlying sense of urgency.

"Barely," Anon replied. "But it's getting harder. Each of these creatures is stronger than the last. The Nexus is feeding on everything we throw at it. We're going to have to change tactics."

Minato, who had been standing quietly, watching over the group, stepped forward. His face was lined with worry, but his voice remained steady. "We've been tracking the energy fluctuations, and you're right. Every time we engage, the Nexus absorbs some of our chakra, strengthening itself. We've been playing defense when we should be going on the offensive."

Sakura, standing beside Naruto, folded her arms, her brow furrowed in thought. "But how do we go on the offensive? It's not like we can just walk up to the Nexus and shut it down."

Minato's gaze shifted toward the horizon, where the faint, ominous glow of the Nexus still lingered. "No, we can't. But we don't need to fight it directly—not yet. The key to weakening the Nexus lies in the energy it's drawing from across the dimensions. If we can cut off enough of its connections, we'll force it to become vulnerable. That's when we strike."

Naruto nodded, his fists tightening. "So we keep hitting these creatures, closing the rifts. We weaken it piece by piece until we have our opening."

Sasuke's Rinnegan flared slightly as he considered the plan. "It won't be easy. The longer we fight, the more the Nexus adapts. Every attack we make, it learns from us. We need to be faster, stronger, and unpredictable."

"That's why we've got the Eternal Hokage and their squads," Minato said, a faint smile touching his lips. "We've trained for this. Every single one of you has mastered something no shinobi has ever faced before. Now it's time to use it."

Anon glanced at his team. They were exhausted, but there was still fight left in them. Rin, Takeshi, and Kazumi had grown stronger, but he could feel the weight of their fatigue. They weren't the only ones. Naruto's team, Sasuke's team, and Sakura's—everyone was pushing themselves to the limit.

"We need to conserve our strength," Anon said, addressing the group. "The Nexus isn't going anywhere, but if we burn out now, we won't be ready for what's coming. We need to focus on precision strikes. Hit hard, but don't exhaust yourselves."

"Agreed," Minato said, his voice calm but firm. "We'll rest for a short while, then regroup and plan our next move. We need to be ready for the next wave."

As the teams began to settle in for a brief respite, Naruto walked over to Anon, his usual energy subdued but still present. "So, what do you think, Anon? Can we really take this thing down?"

Anon looked out toward the horizon, where the faint tendrils of dark energy were still visible, reaching across the sky. His expression remained stoic, but inside, he knew the gravity of what lay ahead. "We don't have a choice, Naruto. It's either take it down, or we all get swallowed by the convergence."

Naruto grinned, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, I figured. Well, let's make sure we're ready for it. We've still got a world to save."

Anon nodded. "We'll be ready."
