"Are you sure your feelings are not for the position of the Queen and they are solely for me?" Alastair revealed the girl's darkest desires without caring about how she felt or what the royal guards thought about her. She had offended him big time by speaking ill about Samantha, and that had broken all his patience and composure. 

If it was in any other situation, he would have rejected the girl in private, saving her some face. But since his sweet girl did not like the maid, he was not obligated to care about her whatsoever. So, he did not care if the royal guards were to listen to him ridiculing her.
